The Analyst, Commercial & Financial Modelling will independently build, review and manage complex project finance, valuation and bid models to support investment decisions and competitive bids. The role translates commercial, technical, legal, tax and financing inputs into accurate, auditable financial analyses, with focus on debt sizing, covenant compliance, funding requirements, scenarios and transaction support across Gentari's renewable energy and infrastructure portfolio.
Responsibilities
Financial Modelling Execution
- Independently build, maintain and update financial models from first principles or existing model platforms;
- Translate PPAs, EPC contracts, O&M arrangements, financing term sheets, shareholder arrangements, tax assumptions and technical inputs into model assumptions, calculations and outputs;
- Perform detailed calculations for revenues, capex, opex, working capital, tax, financing costs, distributions, returns and funding requirements;
- Maintain model integrity through checks, flags, audit trails, assumption registers, version control, circularity controls and clear documentation;
- Perform debt sizing, debt sculpting, repayment profiling, DSCR / LLCR / PLCR analysis, covenant headroom testing, reserve account calculations and funding waterfall analysis;
- Analyse capital structure alternatives, leverage capacity, equity funding requirements, financing terms and refinancing assumptions;
- Support due diligence, credit approval, commercial negotiations and commercial workstreams.
Scenario Testing & Investment Analysis
- Run sensitivities, downside cases, stress tests, scenario matrices and optimisation analyses to assess project returns, bid competitiveness, tariff / pricing requirements, bankability and downside resilience;
- Analyse NPV, IRR, payback, equity multiple, tariff / price reverse-engineering, return thresholds and key value drivers;
- Identify commercial implications of model outputs and flag issues requiring management, legal, tax, technical or financing input.
Transaction Execution & Financial Close Support
- Support live bids, acquisitions, project financings, refinancings and strategic transactions by managing model iterations, information requests, due diligence queries, data room materials and transaction trackers;
- Prepare financial analyses, model summaries, info and board packs, investment committee inputs and approval materials required for management and adviser review;
- Coordinate with commercial, finance, legal, tax, technical and external advisers to reconcile assumptions and ensure consistency between project documents and model outputs.
Stakeholder Output & Continuous Improvement
- Present financial outputs and modelling conclusions clearly to internal stakeholders, highlighting assumptions, sensitivities, risks, financing constraints and recommended next steps;
- Support development of modelling templates, quality control protocols, automation tools and best-practice standards;
- Monitor market benchmarks, financing structures, renewable energy developments and comparable transaction metrics to support sharper commercial and financing analysis.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, Engineering or a related quantitative discipline;
- 3 – 5 years of relevant experience in investment banking, project finance advisory, infrastructure or renewable energy investment, corporate finance, transaction advisory, valuation or equivalent financial modelling roles;
- Demonstrated ability to independently build and maintain complex financial models, including project finance, valuation, bid, acquisition or business case models;
- Strong understanding of project finance structures, including debt sizing, debt sculpting, repayment profiles, reserve accounts, DSCR / LLCR / PLCR, covenant testing, funding requirements and capital structure analysis;
- Advanced Microsoft Excel capability, including model architecture, formula integrity, circularity management, scenario managers, sensitivity tables, model checks and version control;
- Experience supporting live bids, due diligence, project financings, refinancing exercises, acquisitions, investment approvals or financial close workstreams is strongly preferred;
- Ability to interpret commercial agreements and financing terms and identify key financial implications for model logic, assumptions and outputs;
- Experience in renewable energy, infrastructure, power, utilities, corporate PPA, BESS, solar or comparable long-term contracted asset businesses is advantageous;
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and the ability to convert complex model outputs into concise, decision-ready presentation materials;
- Strong ownership mentality, attention to detail and ability to manage modelling workstreams independently under tight transaction timelines;
- Clear communication skills with the ability to explain assumptions, risks, sensitivities and financing implications to project teams and senior stakeholders;
- Formal financial modelling training or certification, including F1F9, Mazars, FMI, Corality or equivalent, is advantageous.
