We are seeking an Android Mobile Development Instructor to mentor and guide students in modern mobile application development. If you're passionate about teaching, building mobile apps, and empowering learners, this role is for you!
Responsibilities
You will be expected to teach the following subjects, but not limited to, as part of our instructors team:
- Kotlin programming fundamentals
- Android Studio & Android development environment
- Android app architecture & lifecycle
- UI development (Layouts, Views / Jetpack Compose)
- Navigation, assets & resource management
- Data persistence (Room, local storage, preferences)
- Mobile networking & API integration
- Concurrency & background processing
- Modern Android architectural patterns (e.g., MVVM, Clean Architecture)
- Cross-platform exposure (Flutter and/or React Native is a plus)
Teaching & Student Engagement
- Teach a daily class from Monday to Thursday:
- 3 hours face-to-face instruction
- 2 hours consultancy hours for student support
- Facilitate a dynamic and collaborative classroom environment that encourages active participation and problem-solving.
- Guide students through real-world assignments and projects, ensuring they apply business logic in web applications.
- Provide timely feedback, mentorship, and support to students during and outside of class.
- Maintain instructional equipment and program materials (e.g., Forward College portal).
- Support student job placements by collaborating with the Student Success Team (SST), including participating in industry networking and internship visits.
- Ensure JPK documentation and student portfolios are well-prepared for final evaluations.
Industry & Community Involvement
- Lead or participate in at least one internal or external hackathon/competition annually, showcasing Forward College's top talent.
- Deliver at least three workshops or talks per year (e.g., Open Day events, Forward College-organized events).
- Engage in quarterly industry networking events with hiring partners and industry advisors.
- Organize at least one alumni engagement event per year (e.g., mentorship programs, guest lectures).
- Lead at least one Forward Lab project per year, contributing to industry-relevant applied learning experiences.
Curriculum Development & Continuous Learning
- Regularly update and enhance the curriculum to reflect emerging industry trends and technologies.
- Ensure students achieve a minimum retention rate of 90% through high-quality teaching and support in collaboration with SST.
- Achieve a minimum average score of 4.5 in student feedback and evaluations.
- Participate in at least one technical training or upskilling program annually to enhance professional development.
Ideal Candidate
You are eager to shape the skills, minds, and trajectories of Forward College students.
- You have relevant tertiary education or higher (e.g., Degree, Master's, or PhD in Software Engineering / Computer Science).
- You have at least one year of Android mobile application development experience.
- You have built at least one Android application using Kotlin.
- You have fluency in the following topics:
- Android development workflow & tooling
- Kotlin programming
- Mobile UI/UX implementation
- APIs & mobile backend integration
- Git & GitHub
- Mobile app architecture & best practices
- Experience with Flutter and/or React Native is an added advantage.
- VTO certification from JPK is an added advantage.
- Must be able to provide appropriate work visas/requirements (if applicable).
