We are partnering with a leading global MNC in Malaysia to hire a Legal & Compliance Counsel to join their APAC Legal & Compliance team. This is a high-visibility role supporting a wide range of legal and compliance matters across multiple business units in the region.
The Role
You will serve as an in-house generalist counsel providing comprehensive legal advice and compliance support across the organisation. From contract drafting and negotiation to regulatory compliance and anti-corruption programmes, you'll be a trusted business partner to stakeholders across the APAC region.
What You'll Be Doing
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements including operational maintenance services, procurement, real estate, and compliance-related contracts
- Providing legal support for acquisitions, restructuring, integration, and divestment projects across APAC
- Assessing legal implications and risk exposure for business stakeholders, helping them navigate both short and long-term legal risks
- Supporting deployment of the company's anti-corruption programme — including due diligence, monitoring, and auditing of third-party business partners
- Coordinating corporate secretarial documentation for Malaysia entities and across APAC
- Supporting compliance training rollouts and communications on ethics and internal compliance policies
- Assisting with compliance investigations and litigation/arbitration matters where required
What We're Looking For
- LL.B or equivalent law degree; admission to a Commonwealth Bar
- Minimum 6–8 years of post-qualifying experience as an in-house counsel or lawyer
- Strong command of English; Bahasa Malaysia is a plus
- Knowledge of Malaysian PDPA and GDPR
- Experience in privacy law, contract management, and APAC regulatory frameworks
- A practical, business-oriented mindset with the ability to translate complex legal issues into clear, actionable advice
- Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, multinational environment
