Application Sales Specialist, Electrification Services

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will support the Sales organization and customers throughout the sales process by adapting ABB's products with customer applications to meet their requirements/specifications. Selecting optimized products and technology for adaptation, preparing relevant documentation, and serving as a key technical resource for the assigned area.

This role is contributing to the Electrification Services business in Malaysia.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Partnering with the Marketing & Sales team to drive orders and promote ABB Electrification Services, with focus on Medium Voltage Switchgear and Protection Relays.

• Identify upgrade, replacement, and retrofit opportunities for aged ABB and competitor products.

• Promoting ABB's digital solutions including monitoring, diagnostics, and predictive maintenance platforms for Medium Voltage switchgear. Champion sustainability and digitalization as key differentiators for service offerings.

• Providing technical support for quotation configurations, ensuring correct product codes and specifications.

• When required, attending to customer meetings, site visits, and technical clarifications to understand requirements and develop tailored solutions.

• Supporting the sales team in data analysis and opportunity identification through Install Base database reviews and updates.

• Staying current with the latest ABB products and solutions applicable to the Service business.

• Supporting new product launches, qualifications, and approvals. Coordinating with factory and global teams to resolve quality issues and ensure compliance.

Qualifications for the role

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with Medium Voltage switchgear and related products in a Sales, Project Management, Engineering, or Tendering capacity.

• Background in MV electrical systems, including MV switchgear, MV circuit breakers, and protection relays.

• Experience in maintenance, retrofits, upgrades, and panel extensions is highly advantageous.

• Familiarity with electrical schemes such as Automatic Transfer Switching (ATS), schematic drawings, and circuit diagrams is an added advantage.

• Passion for driving digitalization and sustainability, with the ability to position these as compelling value propositions in customer engagements.

• Proficient in both English and Bahasa Malaysia.

• Malaysian citizen with strong understanding of the local market, customer landscape, and business culture across Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, and Sarawak.
