Job purpose:
Area Manager, Kuala Lumpur is responsible for driving profitable sales growth and expanding market presence within Kuala Lumpur.
This role will lead local sales team, manage key customer relationships, and identify new business opportunities across both existing and prospective accounts, a long-term business partnership and achievement of corporate goals.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a sales plan to achieve assigned revenue targets and sales growth objectives.
- Identify, pursue, and convert new business opportunities across target industries and customer segments within assigned area.
- Manage and grow existing customer portfolio through proactive relationship management, regular account reviews, and value-based solution selling.
- Facilitate and follow up on sales enquiries, quotations, and proposals to drive timely conversion and deal closure.
- Conduct regular customer visits and meetings to understand business needs, identify growth opportunities, and strengthen long-term partnerships.
- Provide pre-sales technical guidance and after-sales support to ensure customer satisfaction and retention.
- Deliver product presentations, technical demonstrations, and hands-on workshops to customers at various organizational levels.
- Maintain an accurate and up-to-date customer contact database and account records.
- Lead, coach, and motivate local sales team to meet individual and collective performance targets.
- Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular reviews, and support team members professional development.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and results-driven team culture that encourages accountability and initiative.
- Maintain a sound and up-to-date knowledge of Phoenix Contact's product, applications, and technology solutions.
- Provide technical input and application expertise during the pre-sales process to support solution design and customer proposals.
- Facilitate customer workshops, product training, and seminars in coordination with Product Marketing and Industry Management teams.
- Prepare and submit regular sales reports covering revenue performance, pipeline status, project activity, and market intelligence.
- Provide consistent feedback to Product Marketing and Application Technical teams on competitive landscape, product gaps, and market needs.
- Assist in the development and execution of local marketing plans, trade shows, conferences, and other promotional events.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activities to inform sales strategy and identify emerging opportunities.
Requirements:
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of sales experience in industrial electrical, electronics, or automation products, with 5 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
- Solid technical understanding of industrial electrical/electronic products and their applications.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Fluent in English, both oral and written.
- Ability to write analytical reports based on current business trends and data.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Familiar with current business trend and ability to strategize accordingly.
- Demonstrate ability to lead and able to perform under pressure.
- Possess valid driving license and own vehicle .
