Job Description

Overview

The purpose of the role is to manage all corporate affairs activities and directing the business on corporate business/stakeholder issues that impact the corporate and brand reputation for Mars Snacking Asia (encompassing the relevant markets and supply related opportunities linked to the factory operations in Philippines and Taiwan). These include ensuring a strategic approach in the areas of corporate communications, internal communications, issues/crisis management, brand PR and Purpose related initiatives. The role is also responsible for representing the function in the Asia Leadership Team.

Responsibilities:

Oversees the development of short and long-term corporate affairs objectives, plans, and programs for Mars Snacking Asia, in coordination with global corporate affairs strategy.

  • Shape Favorable Public Policy - Serve as an analyst, advocate, and thought leader regarding policies, regulations, rules, and other government instruments that impact Asia and its interests. Engage with public policymakers, opinion leaders, trade associations and other key stakeholders to inform, influence, and formulate favorable public policy that protects our freedom to operate and generates opportunity for growth.
  • Brand PR – Strategize PR plans for our brands that connect with customers through understanding of the category, our brand positioning, brand compass, customer and trade strategies, marketplace trends and competitive landscape.
  • Issues and Crisis Management – Defines issues; engage with relevant stakeholders to mitigate/manage an issue; ensures business readiness to handle crisis; communicate clearly and succinctly with internal/external audiences during a crisis; and minimize the impact on the business. Effectively anticipate, monitor, and contain risk, and manage crises that occur if risk – due to internal or external factors.
  • Internal Communications - Drive business performance through aligning the organization; create and execute inspiring and compelling communications for associates focusing on business vision, engagement, objectives, and priorities; help associates understand their role at Mars and its importance.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of business experience in corporate affairs in a MNC environment
  • Successful track record of experience in the corporate affairs field with marketing and corporate communications expertise, internal & external, policy shaping/influencing.
  • Experience leading, managing and developing a team
  • Demonstrable executive level relationship building and collaborative skills
  • Ability to distil complex messages into simple, relevant and meaningful communications, articulate and promote communications and policy agenda across cultures
  • High level of professionalism, mature in judgment and agile in response; able to analyze and influence at the right time
  • Knowledge seeker, open to learning new concepts and ideas
  • Proactive, innovative, curious can act decisively and collaboratively as needed
  • An uncompromising commitment to quality and ethics
  • Cross-culturally aware in Asia, a bridge builder
  • Experience with and ability to manage situations that involve multidisciplinary areas (e.g., marketing, research and development and scientific affairs) and collaboration with multiple internal stakeholders
  • Excellent project management/organizational prowess, combined with the ability to handle multiple tasks working under pressure and within tight deadlines
