Job Summary

The Assembly Manager is responsible for leading Powertrain assembly operations to achieve production, quality, safety, and cost targets. This role oversees daily assembly activities, drives continuous process improvements, manages production teams, and collaborates with cross-functional departments to ensure efficient, high-quality manufacturing while supporting new product introductions and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

1. Production & Assembly Operations

  • Lead and oversee daily Powertrain assembly operations to achieve production targets while ensuring safety, quality, and delivery requirements.
  • Monitor production performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to improve productivity and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with production schedules and optimize manpower and resource utilization.

2. Process Improvement & Manufacturing Excellence

  • Collaborate with Process Engineering to develop, implement, and optimize assembly processes, tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives through Lean Manufacturing, Industry 4.0, and automation technologies.
  • Review and improve assembly methods to enhance product quality, manufacturing efficiency, and cost performance.

3. Quality Management

  • Ensure products meet quality standards by implementing and maintaining robust quality control processes.
  • Review and update Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) as required.
  • Lead root cause analysis, Design of Experiments (DOE), and corrective actions for product, supplier, and manufacturing process issues.
  • Collaborate with Quality Engineering to resolve production and customer-related quality concerns.

4. Team Leadership & People Management

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of assembly engineers, supervisors, technicians, and operators.
  • Support recruitment, training, performance management, and capability development of the assembly team.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Safety

  • Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Production Planning teams to ensure smooth production operations.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI), engineering changes, and production readiness activities.
  • Ensure full compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and environmental standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in engine or powertrain manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role overseeing assembly operations.
  • Proven experience managing assembly engineers, supervisors, technicians, and production teams in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of engine or powertrain assembly processes, production planning, quality management, and manufacturing operations.
  • Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), ERP systems, and digital manufacturing tools.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Industry 4.0, automation, robotics, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced, multicultural manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in both English and Mandarin (written and spoken).
