Job Description

Job Summary

Responsible for managing and performing professional and technical duties across financial operations, reporting and compliance. The role involves monitoring and analyzing financial records, preparing and analyzing monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports and management information, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and statutory requirements, supporting tax and treasury matters, and driving continuous improvement of accounting processes and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Reporting & Closing

  • Ensure timely monthly, quarterly and annual closing of accounts.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial and management reports for management review.
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of accounting transactions in the ERP system.
  • Prepare group reporting packages (corporate reporting) and comply with group reporting deadlines.
  • Prepare quarterly treasury attachments and reports to Group Finance in compliance with Bursa listing requirements.
  • Monitor and report on P&L performance, including overseas office financials where applicable.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards (MFRS), GST/SST, tax regulations and other statutory requirements.

2. Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Review and verify the accuracy and completeness of supplier invoices and ensure expenses are recorded in the correct GL accounts.
  • Prepare monthly sales management reports and verify sales commissions.
  • Be responsible for credit control and debt recovery activities.
  • Perform reconciliations, investigate discrepancies and report findings to management.

3. Intercompany & Related Party Transactions

  • Ensure completeness of related company transactions and reconcile intercompany balances with respective related companies.
  • Support the group consolidation process, including intercompany transactions and reconciliations.

4. Tax & Regulatory Compliance

  • Prepare monthly GST / bi-monthly SST reconciliation reports and submit online returns to the Royal Malaysian Customs Department.
  • Check the completeness and accuracy of monthly GAF files.
  • Prepare corporate tax computations, including schedules and analysis of expenses, for the tax agent.
  • Prepare tax estimates to ensure tax payments are adequate and avoid penalties.

5. Cash Flow, Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Perform periodic cash flow planning and management to ensure efficient use of funds and adequacy of working capital.
  • Prepare yearly budgets and revised financial forecasts.
  • Assist in monitoring actual performance against budget.

6. Inventory & Asset Management

  • Coordinate yearly inventory counts, including liaising with HODs for inventory variance resolution.
  • Be responsible for inventory control and management, and asset management.

7. Internal Control & Process Improvement

  • Review, plan and improve accounting procedures and controls for updates and enhancements.
  • Assist in identifying financial and operational risks and implementing appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Support the development and improvement of management information systems for effective planning and control.

8. External Liaison

  • Liaise with external parties such as external auditors, tax agents and other relevant authorities on job-related matters.

9. Standards, Safety & Compliance

  • Participate in the implementation, maintenance and continual improvement of ISO standards applicable to the organization.
  • Ensure work processes align with established ISO procedures and contribute to internal and external audit readiness.
  • Actively support the organization's occupational safety and health, quality, environmental and information security objectives through compliance with ISO-related policies.
  • Participate in the improvement of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OH&SMS) and carry out related work as instructed.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and assist in corrective/preventive action planning in line with ISO requirements.

10. Others

  • Assist in any ad-hoc functions and related duties as and when assigned by management.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline. Membership with MIA or other professional accounting bodies is an advantage.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in an audit or manufacturing environment.
  • Good knowledge of MFRS, GST/SST, tax regulations and statutory requirements.
  • Experience in ERP systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Able to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills, meticulous and attentive to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good leadership competencies with a strong sense of integrity and accountability.
