Key Responsibilities
1. Contract & Commercial Leadership
- Take ownership of the full contract lifecycle from tender to final account
- Drive strong cost control to protect and enhance project margins
- Lead variations, claims, and dispute management with strategic intent
- Monitor financial performance across multiple projects and take corrective action where needed
- Contribute to tender strategy and actively improve project win rates
- Identify value engineering opportunities and cost efficiencies
2. Team Leadership & Performance
- Lead, develop, and manage a team of Quantity Surveyors
- Set clear expectations, KPIs, and accountability standards
- Review and sharpen all commercial outputs (cost reports, claims, correspondence)
- Build a results-driven, high-performance team culture
3. Client & Commercial Negotiation
- Act as the key commercial representative to clients
- Lead negotiations and resolve complex contractual issues confidently
- Protect the company's position while maintaining strong relationships
- Influence outcomes, not just manage processes
4. Risk & Problem Solving
- Anticipate and mitigate contractual and commercial risks early
- Take charge in resolving issues, delays, and cost disputes
- Ensure robust documentation to support all claims and positions
Requirements
- Demonstrated leadership ability or strong readiness to step into leadership
- Strong commercial acumen in contracts, claims, and cost management
- Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field
- Approximately 7 - 10 years of relevant experience in QS / contract roles
- High-potential candidates with slightly less experience but exceptional capability are strongly encouraged to apply
- Confident communicator with strong negotiation skills
- Able to perform under pressure and manage multiple priorities
