Job Description

Job Summary

AS400 (IBM i) Administrator with strong handson expertise in IBM PSeries environments and missioncritical insurance systems, including PolisyM. Proven track record in production support, system administration, performance tuning, batch processing, backup & recovery, and incident resolution. Adept at working in regulated environments with strong focus on stability, security, and SLA compliance.

Production Application & System Support

  1. Provide production support for AS400 (IBM i) systems hosted on IBM PSeries (Power Systems).
  2. Support PolisyM core insurance system, ensuring uninterrupted policy issuance, including batch jobs, interfaces, overnight processing, and businesscritical workflows.
  3. Monitor system health, job queues, disk usage, CPU performance, and alerts to ensure system stability.

Incident & Problem Management

  1. Manage production incidents endtoend, including investigation, resolution, and user communication.
  2. Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring or major incidents and recommend preventive actions.
  3. Coordinate with application vendors, developers, and AS400 development teams to resolve issues within SLA.

Batch Processing & Operations

  1. Monitor and manage daily, weekly, monthly, and yearend batch jobs.
  2. Troubleshoot batch failures, data inconsistencies, and interface issues impacting business operations.
  3. Ensure successful completion of overnight and critical business processing.

Backup, Recovery & Disaster Recovery (DR) Support

  1. Execute backup & recovery, and DR activities using Rocket iCluster Software; participate in DR drills and audits.
  2. Execute and monitor backup/restore operations on AS400 system.
  3. Participate in Disaster Recovery (DR) drills, testing, and audit exercises.
  4. Support recovery activities during incidents or system outages.

Change & Release Support

  1. Participate in change management activities, including impact analysis, deployment support, and postimplementation validation.
  2. Ensure production changes are properly tested, approved, and documented before deployment.

Documentation & Continuous Improvement

  1. Maintain SOPs, operational runbooks, and production support documentation.
  2. Identify opportunities to improve system stability, operational efficiency, and support processes.
  3. Support audit reviews by providing logs, reports, and operational evidence.

Qualification and Experience Requirement

Education

Bachelor Degree in Computing

Experience

  1. Minimum 35 years of handson experience in Production Support for AS400 (IBM i)based enterprise systems.
  2. Proven experience supporting PolisyM core insurance system in a production environment, including online transactions and endofday (EOD) batch processing an added advantage.
  3. Practical exposure to IBM Power (PSeries) platforms, including production and DR environments.
  4. Handson experience managing batch jobs, job queues, interfaces, and resolving batch or datarelated production issues.
  5. Experience supporting backup, recovery, and disaster recovery (DR) activities for AS400 systems, including participation in DR drills and LiveDR exercises.
