Overview
The role is responsible to assists the Line Manager in leading the team to identify, assess, and mitigate money laundering and terrorism financing risks across the Group. This role is responsible for developing, reviewing, enhancing, and ensuring the proper implementation of AML/CFT policies and procedures, while supporting internal business units through continuous awareness and training programs. Additionally, the position maintains effective relationships with regulators and enforcement agencies, and oversees the reporting of suspicious transactions to Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM).
Job Responsibilities
Suspicious Transaction Investigation & STR Submission: Ensure proper investigation of suspicious transactions per regulatory requirements, guaranteeing timely submission of Suspicious Transaction Reports (STR) to the Regulator and escalation to the Line Manager.
Team Oversight & Operational Management: Assist the Line Manager in managing daily BAU operations, case assignments, aging, and productivity/quality (QA/SLA) targets while guiding the team in identifying unusual client activities.
Risk Trend Analysis & Internal Controls: Analyze suspicious activity and ML/TF risk trends to provide actionable recommendations that strengthen internal controls within the bank.
Risk Assessment & Relationship Exits: Assess reputational, regulatory, and financial crime risks to provide appropriate relationship exit recommendations to the Business.
AML/CFT Governance & Training: Promote a strong culture of AML/CFT controls and ensure sound Group compliance, supporting business units with continuous AML/CFT training and awareness.
Process Improvement & Workflow Transformation: Participate in AML/CFT mini-projects and contribute to the transformation of workflows to enhance, innovate, and automate investigation processes.
Reporting, Execution & Ad-hoc Support: Work independently in a fast-paced environment to ensure accurate, timely reporting while handling urgent case reviews and additional ad-hoc tasks assigned by the Head/Line Manager.
Job Requirements
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Banking & Finance, Economics, Risk, Audit, or equivalent.
Experience: Minimum 3-4 years of working experience in a banking or financial institution specializing in financial crime compliance.
Communication & Stakeholder Skills: Emotionally mature with a good command of spoken/written English to communicate effectively with various bank stakeholders.
Analytical & Technical Abilities: Energetic, detail-oriented, and analytical critical thinker with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
Certifications: AICB certificate or similar professional AML/CFT qualifications are encouraged (added value).
