Job Description

The Assistant Manager, Finance oversees the company's finance operations, including financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, audit and tax compliance. The role ensures accurate financial records, regulatory compliance, and effective use of the ERP system to support monthly closing and financial processes. The Finance Manager also works closely with internal stakeholders, while liaising with auditors, tax advisors, banks, and regulators to support financial governance and decision-making.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the full spectrum of finance operations, including monthly financial closing, preparation of financial statements, and ensuring compliance with MFRS and internal policies.
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance analysis, including monitoring project profitability and costs, while working closely with the PMO team on project financial tracking.
  • Oversee cash flow planning, vendor payments, staff reimbursements, and bank reconciliations to ensure effective treasury management.
  • Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, system workflows, and operational efficiency within the ERP environment.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls, financial policies, and approval processes to ensure proper governance and risk management.
  • Ensure compliance with Malaysian tax and statutory requirements, including Service Tax (SST), Imported Service Tax (IST), Withholding Tax, and coordination with external tax advisors.
  • Manage finance processes using Microsoft Business Central ERP, including supporting month-end closing, maintaining finance workflows, and managing user access and settings to ensure smooth financial operations.
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, banks, and regulatory authorities, and provide financial insights to support management and operational decision-making.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related fields.
  • Professional accounting qualifications (e.g. ACCA, CIMA, CPA) are an advantage
  • 8-10 years of experience in financial reporting, budgeting, audit and tax compliance.
  • Prior experience with ERP systems (Microsoft Business Central preferred)
  • Experience in project-based or service-based industries is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting and accounting standards (MFRS/IFRS)
  • Budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis
  • Strong analytical and problem solving mindset.
  • Detail-oriented with high accuracy discipline.
  • Strong coordination and communication skills across departments.
  • Ability to work independently and under tight reporting timelines.
  • Ability to translate financial information into clear insights for management.
