About the client:

Our client is a leading player in the duty-free industry, offering premium products across multiple categories such as luxury goods, beauty, fashion, spirits, and more.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and commercially minded Assistant Finance Manager with strong knowledge of the FMCG industry to support financial planning, reporting, and control activities. The role involves partnering closely with operations and sales teams to ensure accurate financial reporting, cost control, and compliance while driving business performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare and review management reports, variance analysis, and KPI dashboards.
  • Prepare budgeting, forecasting, and rolling forecasts, particularly sales and trade spend.
  • Monitor cost of goods sold (COGS), margins, and operational expenses.
  • Analyze sales performance, promotions, rebates, and discounts typical in FMCG operations.
  • Ensure compliance with Malaysian accounting standards (MFRS) and internal controls.
  • Coordinate with auditors, tax agents, and external consultants.
  • Assist in cash flow management, working capital optimization, and inventory analysis.
  • Support implementation and improvement of ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, Navision).
  • Provide financial insights to support pricing, product profitability, and business decisions.
  • Supervise and guide junior finance staff when required.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 46 years of relevant finance/accounting experience, preferably in the FMCG industry.
  • Professional qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, CPA, MIA or MICPA is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, cost accounting, and budgeting.
  • Hands-on experience with inventory accounting and high-volume transactions.
  • Proficient in Excel and accounting/ERP systems.
  • Good knowledge of Malaysian tax regulations (SST, corporate tax) is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume FMCG environment.
