Our client is a fast-growing international shipping and logistics company based at Klang, Malaysia. Reporting directly to the Managing Director and Chief Finance Officer (CFO), the Assistant Finance Manager/Finance Manager will play a key role in leading the company's finance function. This position is responsible for overseeing financial operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, driving financial performance, and providing strategic financial insights to support business growth and informed decision-making.
The successful candidate will partner closely with senior management to strengthen financial governance, optimise business performance, and support the company's long-term strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Lead the annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes to support business growth and operational objectives.
- Perform financial analysis, performance reviews, and business evaluations to provide strategic recommendations to management.
- Monitor key financial and operational KPIs, identify business risks, and recommend improvement initiatives.
- Support strategic planning, business expansion, and investment decisions through financial modelling and scenario analysis.
Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee the full spectrum of finance and accounting operations, including General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), fixed assets, and reconciliations.
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing in accordance with applicable accounting standards and company policies.
- Prepare and review statutory financial statements, management reports, consolidated accounts, and financial presentations for senior management.
- Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of financial information and reporting.
Treasury & Cash Flow Management
- Manage cash flow forecasting, treasury operations, banking relationships, and working capital to support business requirements.
- Monitor liquidity and funding requirements to ensure effective cash management.
- Oversee banking facilities, payments, financing arrangements, and foreign currency transactions where applicable.
Compliance, Governance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, taxation requirements, statutory regulations, and corporate governance policies.
- Strengthen internal controls, finance policies, and accounting procedures to improve operational efficiency and minimise financial risks.
- Coordinate annual audits and liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, company secretaries, banks, and regulatory authorities.
- Support tax planning, statutory submissions, and regulatory reporting requirements.
Business Partnership & Process Improvement
- Partner with commercial and operational teams to provide financial support for business initiatives, commercial negotiations, and cost optimisation projects.
- Identify opportunities to improve finance processes through automation, digitalisation, and system enhancements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen financial performance and operational efficiency.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or equivalent is highly preferred.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant finance and accounting experience, including supervisory or managerial responsibilities.
- Prior experience in the shipping, logistics, freight forwarding, or transportation industry will be an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, accounting standards, taxation, treasury, statutory compliance, and corporate governance.
- Proven experience in managing full sets of accounts, General Ledger (GL), cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and audit.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial modelling skills with the ability to translate financial data into actionable business insights.
- Experience with ERP systems and strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial reporting tools.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.

Compensation & Benefits
- Basic salary: RM10,000 – RM11,000
- 13th Month Salary
- Variable Performance Bonus (based on individual and company performance)
