Our client is a well-established food manufacturing company with operations in Malaysia and an international presence. As part of its continued business growth, the company is looking for an experienced finance professional to join its team as an Assistant Finance Manager.
Role Overview
This role will support the Finance Manager in overseeing the full spectrum of finance and accounting operations for the business. The position covers financial reporting, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, inventory, cash flow, banking matters and statutory compliance.
The successful candidate will also work closely with the operations team on inventory costing and stock management, while supporting the finance team in ensuring smooth and accurate day-to-day financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and review finance and accounting operations, including AR, AP, GL, fixed assets, inventory, cash flow and financial reporting
- Prepare and review financial statements and management reports, including commentary and analysis of company performance
- Manage and liaise with bankers on finance-related matters, including hedging, trade line utilisation and inward/outward remittances
- Monitor inventory costing and lead inventory counts, working closely with operations teams to investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies
- Coordinate and liaise with external auditors, tax agents and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations and statutory requirements
- Assist the Finance Manager in managing and developing the finance team to ensure daily operations are completed efficiently and accurately
- Support financial planning, analysis and other finance-related initiatives as required
- Liaise with overseas subsidiaries and internal stakeholders on finance and accounting matters
- Perform other duties and ad-hoc assignments as directed by the Finance Manager
Key Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
- Ideally 6 – 10 years of relevant finance and accounting experience, within a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of full-set accounting, financial reporting, inventory and costing
- Experience in managing banking relationships and exposure to hedging and trade finance would be advantageous
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with good attention to detail
- Positive, proactive and solutions-oriented mindset
- Able to work well in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across different levels of the organisation
- Good command of written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate with overseas subsidiaries
- Able to work independently while supporting and collaborating closely with the Finance Manager and wider business
