Scope Of Position
The Global Trade & Product Compliance Assistant Manager is responsible for supporting EU regional initiatives in logistics operations, cross-border trade, and product regulatory compliance. The role ensures products meet applicable EU regulatory, safety, and environmental requirements while assisting in import/export operations, process improvements, and risk management. This position serves as a regional point of contact for trade, compliance, environmental, and logistics matters. The Assistant Manager is expected to contribute to framework building, proactively prevent risks, oversee BAU operations, monitor vendor performance, and support process improvements, gradually developing leadership and strategic capabilities. The role is expected to progressively assume greater ownership of regional compliance and logistics initiatives as capability and experience develop.
Major Duties And Responsibilities
Strategic Support & Governance
- Drive the implementation of logistics, environmental and product compliance strategies aligned with EU expansion plans and cost objectives.
- Develop and operationalize governance frameworks, policies, and control mechanisms to ensure standardized import/export, environmental and product compliance practices across the region.
- Develop structured SOPs, templates, and workflows for logistics, product compliance, and environmental requirements.
- Oversee adherence to international trade regulations, EU regulatory frameworks (CE, REACH, RoHS), customs requirements, and internal control standards.
- Evaluate logistics networks, compliance processes, and vendor management frameworks to enhance scalability, efficiency, and risk mitigation.
Operational Oversight & Performance Management
- Monitor EU logistics and product compliance performance to ensure KPIs related to cost, lead time, service levels, regulatory adherence, and environmental compliance are met.
- Oversee day-to-day operations and resolve and coordinate resolution of operational or compliance issues that may impact shipments or product distribution.
- Act as the escalation point for critical logistics disruptions, customs issues, compliance risks affecting operations, or vendor performance concerns.
- Ensure effective handling of regulated or specialized cargo and high-risk products.
Financial & Cost Optimization
- Monitor and control regional logistics-related and compliance-related expenditures.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through carrier negotiation, route optimization, volume consolidation, and compliance process efficiencies.
- Collaborate with Finance on accurate budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for logistics and regulatory compliance activities.
Digital Transformation & Process Excellence
- Coordinate collaboration with the Center of Excellence (COE) to drive system enhancements, automation, and digital solutions for logistics, compliance, and vendor management.
- Support and coordinate large-scale system implementations and ensure alignment between operational needs, regulatory requirements, environmental obligations, and technical development.
- Identify opportunities to optimize logistics, compliance, environmental, and vendor processes to reduce lead times and strengthen internal controls.
- Track KPIs and provide insights for continuous operational, compliance, environmental, and vendor performance improvements.
Stakeholder & Team Leadership
- Provide guidance and coordination to Logistics Controllers, Compliance Officers, and relevant team members.
- Build strong relationships with global suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, vendors, regulatory authorities, and external consultants.
- Ensure cross-functional alignment with Supply Chain, Commercial, Finance, and Operations teams.
Risk Management & Business Continuity
- Proactively identify geopolitical, operational, regulatory, environmental, and compliance risks before they impact EU operations.
- Implement early-warning mechanisms to prevent shipment disruptions, non-compliance, environmental breaches, or vendor failures.
- Develop contingency planning strategies to mitigate supply chain or compliance disruptions.
- Advise senior management on emerging trade regulations, EU compliance requirements, and logistics trends.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Legal, Purchasing, Logistics, Finance, Operations, and Environmental teams to ensure alignment between regulatory requirements and business operations.
- Provide advisory support on regulatory risks, product compliance requirements, environmental obligations, and import procedures to support business decision-making.
- Coordinate with external consultants, certification bodies, and regulatory authorities when required. Additional Responsibilities
- Perform other duties related to global logistics leadership as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, International Business, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum 5–8 years of experience in global trade, logistics management, or import/export leadership roles.
Technical Knowledge
- Strong understanding of EU product regulations (CE marking, REACH, RoHS, etc.).
- Knowledge of customs procedures, import regulations, and international trade frameworks.
- Experience supporting cross-border logistics and regulatory compliance operations.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, logistics platforms, or compliance documentation systems.
Financial Acumen
- Strong understanding of freight costing, budgeting, and logistics financial planning.
- Language: Professional proficiency in English and Mandarin (written and spoken)
