Job Summary
The Assistant Restaurant Manager supports the Restaurant Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the All-Day Dining restaurant, In-Room Dining, Bar, and Nursing Home foodservice operations, including IDDSI-compliant meal services.
This role focuses on operational execution, team supervision, compliance with food safety and healthcare standards, and delivering consistent, high-quality dining experiences across all service areas.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Service Execution
- Assist in managing the daily operations of All-Day Dining, In-Room Dining, Bar, and Nursing Home foodservice.
- Supervise service teams during shifts to ensure smooth operations and adherence to service standards.
- Coordinate with kitchen and support teams to ensure timely, accurate, and consistent service delivery.
- Support manpower planning, duty roster preparation, and shift deployment.
IDDSI & Nursing Home Meal Services
- Support the implementation and compliance of IDDSI standards within nursing home foodservice.
- Ensure proper handling, labelling, and service of texture-modified diets in accordance with residents dietary requirements.
- Work closely with nursing staff, dietitians, and kitchen teams to ensure accurate and safe meal delivery.
- Monitor meal service to minimize errors and ensure resident safety.
Guest & Resident Experience
- Uphold high service standards across restaurant, bar, and in-room dining operations.
- Deliver respectful, patient, and empathetic service to nursing home residents.
- Address guest and resident feedback promptly and escalate issues where necessary.
Team Supervision & Training
- Supervise, guide, and motivate service staff during daily operations.
- Assist in training staff on service standards, IDDSI awareness, food safety, and hygiene practices.
- Ensure compliance with SOPs, operational guidelines, and company standards.
Compliance, Safety & Hygiene
- Enforce food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety standards across all operations.
- Ensure proper sanitation and safe handling of food, equipment, and service areas.
- Assist in maintaining documentation for audits, inspections, and internal compliance checks.
Administrative & Reporting Support
- Support the Restaurant Manager in preparing daily reports, operational checklists, and inventory monitoring.
- Assist in cost control initiatives, including waste reduction and labour efficiency.
- Act as Duty Manager when required.
Job Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Hospitality, Food & Beverage Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in restaurant or hospitality operations, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role.
- Experience in healthcare, nursing home, or IDDSI-compliant foodservice will be an added advantage.
- Good understanding of food safety, hygiene standards (e.g., HACCP), and workplace safety practices.
- Strong leadership, team supervision, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-service environment (restaurant, bar, in-room dining, and healthcare setting).
- Good communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with guests, residents, and cross-functional teams.
- Service-oriented mindset with a patient, empathetic, and professional approach when dealing with elderly residents.
- Able to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required.
