ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key roles
- As the contact point for all analytical testing related issue such involving QA lab and BU (Plant lab -EBSB, EDSB, PT EMI, PT EDI) lab testing. Will be liable for the accuracy, precision and truthful results released.
- Responsible to assist the Senior Manager, QC&A to manage the infrastructure and support aspect of the lab.
- Assist to manage the Quality Assurance Laboratory (QALAB) operations, ensuring compliance with ISO/IEC 17025, Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), and regulatory requirements. The role involves supervising laboratory activities, driving continuous improvement, and providing technical leadership to support business objectives.
Leadership & Operational Management
- Supervise and oversee routine and non-routine laboratory operations, including raw material, chemical testing, equipment calibration, maintenance, and documentation in full compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 and GLP.
- Act as the primary liaison between internal teams (R&D, QA/RA, BU) and external stakeholders (suppliers, accreditation bodies) for technical and compliance matters.
- Ensure laboratory performance meets defined KPIs and proficiency testing standards.
- Ensure QA lab operations to meet allocated budget and maintain lab inventory by control in-house stock, reference standards, chemical reagents and consumable to support daily lab operation.
- Responsible on general lab cleanliness and maintain excellent lab housekeeping for QA lab and enforce to BU lab as one of the GLP practices.
- Responsible for Analytical analysis of Asahi cross check, Product Review Performance, Proficiency Test and other quality assurance related activities.
- Work closely with R&D to support on analytical analysis activities.
Accreditation & Compliance
- Assist in maintaining ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation and ensure adherence to SAMM requirements.
- Validate and verify new and existing test methods in compliance with regulatory and quality standards.
- Lead investigations on non-conformance issues and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) within the stipulated timeline.
- Any other related functions as may assigned from time to time.
Training & People Development
- Coach, motivate and develop laboratory analysts to enhance technical competency and performance.
- Conduct training on SOPs, equipment operation, and GLP practices for QALAB and BU labs.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Expand the scope of chemical testing to meet customer and regulatory needs.
- Introducing new technologies and methodologies to improve testing efficiency and accuracy.
- Establish and monitor KPIs for analytical performance and proactively trend lab data for improvement.
- Participate actively and contribute technical support and scientific knowledge throughout group of companies.
Health, Safety & Environment
- Ensure compliance with HSE standards and promote a safe working environment.
- Implement initiatives to reduce resource usage and minimize environmental impact.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in science discipline, preferably in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years working experience in QA laboratory environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Registered chemist under IKM.
- Strong knowledge of analytical equipment and chemical testing methods.
- Strong knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025, GLP, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Meticulous and good interpersonal and organization skill i.e independent, resourceful, proactive, and able to work under pressure.
- Good communication skills (verbal and written) in Bahasa Malaysia and English.
- Strong computer skills.
- Possess own transport and willing to travel.
- Able to identify opportunities and exhibit high energy and a willingness to be involved.
