Job Summary

The Assistant Manager, Talent Management plays a pivotal role in supporting MR DIY International's people agenda across corporate and retail operations. This role is responsible for end-to-end talent management processes from talent identification and development planning through to succession pipeline management across the Group's regional markets. The role will partner closely with business leaders and country HR counterparts to embed a strong performance and development culture that supports organisational capability building.

Key Responsibilities

Talent Identification & Assessment

  • Support the design and execution of regional talent review processes, including calibration sessions and talent segmentation frameworks.
  • Prepare talent snapshot summaries and reports to inform leadership decisions, highlighting key development priorities for high-potential employees.
  • Bridge performance and talent conversation by aligning calibration inputs to reflect potential and demonstrated results.
  • Coordinate assessment tools and frameworks to identify capability gaps and flight risks across markets.

Development Planning & Execution

  • Partner with business leaders and HRBPs to co-create individual development plans (IDPs) for identified talents.
  • Track progress against development commitments and escalate gaps for intervention.
  • Facilitate and coordinate development programmes, including external learning partnerships, cross-functional assignments, mentoring and coaching initiatives.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Maintain and update succession pipelines for critical roles across regional markets.
  • Provide analytical support for bench strength reviews and readiness assessments.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify and accelerate successors for key positions.

Succession Planning

  • Build effective partnerships with country HR teams, HRBPs, and functional leaders to ensure alignment of talent initiatives with business priorities.
  • Present talent data and programme updates to senior stakeholders in a clear, concise, and impactful manner.
  • Act as a liaison between Group HR and country-level HR teams to ensure consistent implementation of Group-wide talent practices.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Management, Psychology, or its equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2 years in a dedicated talent management, learning & development, or HR business partnering role.
  • Prior exposure to a regional or multi-market HR environment is preferred.
  • Experience in retail, consumer, or high-growth organisations is an added advantage.
  • Strong command of talent management frameworks — including talent reviews, succession planning, and competency-based assessment.
  • Data-savvy with the ability to translate talent metrics into actionable insights; familiarity with dashboarding or HR analytics tools is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills; able to engage confidently with senior leaders.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines across markets simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia; proficiency in additional languages is an added advantage.
