Responsibilities

  • Coordinate end-to-end transport activities to ensure timely and accurate execution.
  • Oversee transport scheduling and route planning to ensure optimal resource allocation, timely deliveries, and cost efficiency.
  • Liaise closely with internal stakeholders, customers, warehouses, and transport vendors to ensure smooth operations, minimise delays, and resolve exceptions effectively.
  • Lead, manage, and develop the transport team by providing clear direction, coaching, and performance management.
  • Monitor daily operations, adjust plans in response to operational changes, and ensure alignment with customer requirements and business priorities.
  • Drive optimal vehicle utilisation through effective load planning, route optimisation, and capacity management.
  • Ensure adequate manpower planning, skills development, and succession planning to build a competent, motivated, and safety-conscious team aligned with operational objectives.
  • Ensure high customer satisfaction by consistently meeting or exceeding agreed service levels (SLAs).
  • Proactively manage customer expectations, address service issues promptly, and implement corrective actions to minimise disruptions.

Requirements

  • Degree in Logistics, Transportatio n, Supply Chain and any relevant disciplines.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in transport operations, fleet management, or logistics, preferably within a distribution, 3PL, or supply chain environment.
  • Hands-on experience managing daily transport operations, delivery performance, and vendor coordination.
  • Strong knowledge of transport operations, route planning, scheduling, and fleet utilisation.
  • Familiar with local statutory and regulatory requirements including JPJ and OSHA compliance.
  • Experience in managing transport KPIs such as on-time delivery, vehicle utilisation, cost per trip, and service level adherence.

The company DHL itself was founded in San Francisco, United States, in 1969 and expanded its service throughout the world by the late 1970s. In 1979, under the name of DHL Air Cargo, the company entered the Hawaiian islands with an inter-island cargo service using two DC-3 and four DC-6 aircraft. Adrian Dalsey and Larry Hillblom personally oversaw the daily operations until its eventual bankruptcy closed the doors in 1983. At its peak, DHL Air Cargo employed just over 100 workers, management and pilots.
