Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Manager to lead back-office operations for the Singapore market. The role oversees the accurate and timely end-to-end processing and settlement of wealth and treasury products - including futures, bonds, reverse repos, coupon events, and structured deposits - alongside fixed deposits, internal fund transfers, and account closures. The successful candidate will lead a team of processing staff, drive operational excellence, and ensure full compliance with internal controls and MAS regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Product Operations & Settlements:
- Manage the end-to-end processing and settlement of wealth and treasury products, including futures trading, bonds, reverse repos, and structured deposits.
- Oversee the full coupon lifecycle — from event capture and rate validation through to accrual, payment, and reconciliation.
- Handle reverse repo operations end to end, including trade booking, collateral handling, interest computation, and unwind/maturity processing.
- Process futures trades, including margin, daily settlement, and expiry/roll handling.
- Process and settle bond transactions (primary and secondary), ensuring accurate matching, confirmation, and reconciliation against custodian and counterparty records.
- Manage structured deposit processing across placement, valuation events, and maturity.
- Process fixed deposits, internal fund transfers, and account closures, ensuring all balances and pending transactions are cleared.
- Investigate and resolve settlement discrepancies, failed trades, and reconciliation breaks.
Team Leadership:
- Lead, supervise, and develop a team of back-office operations staff, allocating workload to meet daily cut-off times.
- Review and authorise transactions under the Maker-Checker framework as the checker/approver.
- Provide training, coaching, and performance feedback to build team capability and bench strength.
- Act as the escalation point for complex exceptions and time-sensitive issues.
Controls & Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, operational risk frameworks, and MAS regulatory requirements.
- Support AML/KYC, audit, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Identify, assess, and escalate operational risks, exceptions, and process gaps.
Process Improvement:
- Drive process improvement and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and control.
- Review and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensure they remain current.
- Partner with front office, custodians, and counterparties to streamline operational workflows.
Qualification & Experience
- Degree in Banking, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Minimum 5–7 years of back-office operations experience in wealth management, treasury, or capital markets, with prior team leadership/supervisory experience.
- Hands-on, end-to-end processing experience across futures trading, bonds, reverse repos, coupon handling, and structured deposits.
- Working knowledge of fixed deposits, internal fund transfers, and account closure processes.
- Strong understanding of the Singapore market and the MAS regulatory environment.
Technical Skills
- Familiarity with core banking, treasury, and custodian platforms (e.g., Avaloq, Temenos, Murex, or equivalent).
- Solid grasp of settlement cycles, collateral management, accruals, and corporate action/coupon processing.
- Proficiency in MS Excel; exposure to workflow automation tools (e.g., RPA, Power Automate) is an advantage.
