We are seeking a proactive and customer-focused Assistant Manager to support daily front-of-house operations in our pastry outlet. This role combines floor supervision, guest service excellence, and hands-on barista expertise (would be an advantage). The ideal candidate leads by example, ensures smooth service flow, and maintains high standards in both pastry presentation and coffee service.
Floor & Operations Management
- Overseeing daily front-of-house operations
- Supervise service staff during shifts, ensuring efficiency and professionalism
- Ensure opening and closing procedures are followed correctly
- Monitor service flow during peak hours and resolve issues promptly
- Maintain outlet cleanliness, visual standards, and display presentation
Customer Service
- Deliver exceptional guest experiences and handle customer inquiries or complaints professionally
- Build rapport with regular guests and uphold brand service standards
- Ensure accurate order taking and timely service
Barista & Beverage Operations
- Prepare and serve espresso-based beverages, brewed coffee, and specialty drinks to company standards
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of coffee beans, grind size, extraction, milk texturing, and basic latte art
- Ensure proper calibration, cleaning, and daily maintenance of coffee machines and grinders
- Train and support staff on barista techniques, beverage recipes, and coffee quality standards
Staff Support & Training
- Assist in training new front-of-house and barista
- Motivate and guide team members to maintain service consisency
- Support scheduling needs and shift coverage when required
Inventory & Cash Handling
- Monitor stock levels for pastries, beverages, and service supplies
- Assist with ordering and inventory control
- Handle POS systems, billing, and cash reconciliation accurately
Health & Safety
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards
- Always follow health and safety regulations
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a café, pastry shop, or hospitality environment
- Proven barista experience with solid espresso and milk-handling skills
- Prior supervisory or team-lead experience preferred
- Strong communication and leadership abilities
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment
- Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods
- Comfortable working behind the counter and on the floor
