Overview

Reef Check Malaysia is seeking an Assistant Programme Manager based in Redang, but regular travel to other parts of Malaysia is required. Experience divers with great passion for environmental conservation and community development are encouraged to apply.

Job purpose:

As an Assistant Programme Manager, you will assist the implementation of our long-term marine conservation programme plan according to established Reef Check Malaysia practices and procedures, with the goal of establishing sustainably managed marine ecosystems and promoting sustainable tourism. The Assistant Programme Manager will also be expected to assist with the implementation of Reef Check Malaysia's EcoAction, Science, Advocacy, and Management programmes in Malaysia.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing budget and financial accounts for Redang programmes.
  • Engage and consult with island communities to foster community involvement in Reef Check Malaysia's
  • Support coral rehabilitation efforts in Redang, including data collection and management as well as reporting project's progresses.
  • Contribute to the development of communication materials and implement awareness programs on marine conservation, targeting schools and local
  • Participate in relevant field activities under Reef Check Malaysia, as required by the Programme Manager

Candidate Profile:

  • Candidate with experience in working with communities
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Proactive and able to work without supervision with good organisational skills
  • A good communicator, able to get on with others and be a team player
  • A strong sense of responsibility and accountability
  • Able and willing to work in outdoor environment

Requirements

  • Certified SCUBA diver with preferably minimum PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or equivalent
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in Bahasa Malaysia and English
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) software
  • Minimum 2 years working experience in marine conservation or related position
  • Right to work in Malaysia (We are unable to sponsor working visas)

Salary range:

RM 2800 RM 3300
