Role description

This is an urgent, fixed-term 2-month contract for an Assistant Programmer to support the final development phases of Project Sumaya, an initiative supported by the MDEC Digital Content Grant.

The Assistant Programmer will work closely with the Lead Programmer to implement core game systems and ensure the project meets its upcoming milestones. This role is fully remote but requires a high level of self-discipline and proactive communication. This position is open to Malaysian citizens only.

Contract duration: 9 March 2026 30 April 2026

Compensation: RM 4,000 per month (Fixed Fee)

Responsibilities

• System development: Assist the Lead Programmer in the development of all major and minor systems, including core game mechanics and front-end UI/UX design.
• Quality assurance: Conduct rigorous testing and QA of systems to ensure all features work as intended; log and rectify technical issues promptly.
• Ideation: Participate in brainstorming sessions and suggest enhancements or features for Project Sumaya.
• Milestone management: Ensure all assigned tasks are completed within specified deadlines to meet project-wide milestones.
• Reporting: Provide weekly progress reports to the Business regarding task status and technical challenges.

Qualifications

• Technical expertise: Advanced proficiency in Roblox Studio and the Luau programming language is mandatory.
• Software development: Strong understanding of game development workflows, object-oriented programming (OOP) in a Luau context, and debugging.
• Problem solving: Proven ability to troubleshoot complex scripts and optimise game performance.
• Remote proficiency: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining effective communication.
• Nationality: Must be a Malaysian Citizen.
• Education/experience: A degree in Computer Science, Game Development, or a related field is preferred, though we will prioritise candidates with a strong portfolio of published Roblox experiences.
