Job Description

About the Role

Rooftop Energy Tech Sdn Bhd (Rooftop Energy) is hiring an Assistant Project Engineer to take ownership of authority licensing, project coordination, and procurement across our active solar Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) pipeline.

This is a new role created to rebalance how the EPC team works. Today, our Project Engineers carry every part of a project from licensing and procurement through to design, installation, and commissioning. As our active project pipeline grows, we need a dedicated owner for the licensing, coordination, and procurement load so the Project Engineers can focus on the engineering work itself.

You will be that owner.

About the Group

Dyna (Dynasynergy Technology Sdn Bhd) was founded in 2002 and provides off-grid, solar-hybrid, and grid-connected power solutions to telecommunications companies, state utilities, and large industrials across Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, and Sarawak. Anchor customers include SESB, U Mobile, Maxis, Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation, and the Royal Malaysian Navy. Certifications include Suruhanjaya Tenaga Class A, CIDB G7, and ISO 9001:2015.

Rooftop Energy, founded in 2025, is Dyna's solar subsidiary. It delivers commercial and industrial solar Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects and runs RooftopIQ, a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform that automates solar proposals and simplifies asset management.

The combined group has more than 70 staff across PJ, Shah Alam (HQ) and Kota Kinabalu.

Role Overview
  • New role created to relieve the Project Engineers of non-engineering workload so they can focus on design, sizing, optimisation, testing, and commissioning
  • Owns authority licensing and applications, project coordination, and procurement end to end
  • Reports to the Chief Engineer
  • One of three active EPC hires (alongside an Operations and Maintenance Engineer and a Business Development Engineer) that take the team from 6 to a target of 9
  • Profit-sharing participation as part of the standard EPC engineering scheme (subject to final confirmation)

What You Will DoOwn authority licensing and applications

Take responsibility for every regulatory submission tied to a Rooftop Energy project. This includes eAtap submissions to TNB for grid connection, Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) license applications and registrations, Green Investment Tax Allowance (GITA) filings, and any other authority paperwork a project requires. Track every application from preparation through submission to approval, and keep the team informed when the critical path runs through an authority.

Coordinate projects across parties

Sit at the centre of project execution. Coordinate between the client, our Project Engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams (warehouse, finance, the Devices and software teams where IoT is involved). Set and chase deadlines, run project-level updates, and make sure no detail falls between handoffs.

Run procurement

Own material ordering, deliveries, and the warehouse interface. Place purchase orders against approved bills of materials, track delivery dates against project schedules, manage discrepancies with suppliers, and keep our warehouse stock visible so Project Engineers and site teams know what is available and what is in transit. Build the discipline that defends margins on the procurement side of every project.

Support project engineering execution

Provide general support to the Project Engineers as they focus on design, sizing, optimisation, testing, and commissioning. This includes preparing documentation packs, supporting site visits where coordination is needed, and helping unblock projects that hit administrative or supply-side issues.

Build the operating discipline

Document the licensing, coordination, and procurement workflows as you take them on. Standardise checklists and templates for application submissions, supplier interactions, and project handoffs. Feed that discipline back into the wider EPC team so the function scales as the pipeline grows.

What We Are Looking ForMust Have
  • A degree or diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, or Renewable Energy Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • One or more years of relevant experience in solar, electrical, construction, or a related project-based industry
  • Working understanding of Malaysian electrical authority processes, including TNB connection (eAtap) and ST registration
  • Strong organisation and follow-through discipline. Trackers, checklists, and submissions do not slip on your watch.
  • Comfortable coordinating across clients, subcontractors, and internal teams
  • Strong written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia
  • Willingness to travel to project sites across Malaysia as needed
Good to Have
  • Direct experience preparing and tracking eAtap, ST, and GITA submissions
  • Prior procurement or supply-chain coordination experience, ideally in solar, electrical, or construction
  • Familiarity with bills of materials, purchase orders, and warehouse interfaces
  • Exposure to Grid-Connected Photovoltaic (GCPV) systems
  • Google Workspace fluency (Sheets, Docs, Drive)
Who You Are
  • Organised by default. You like checklists, trackers, and clean handoffs.
  • Comfortable chasing people, including subcontractors, suppliers, and authority desks, until something is closed out.
  • Calm when juggling multiple projects in parallel. You can hold the state of 10 or more live submissions and orders without losing track.
  • Genuinely interested in how projects get delivered, not only how they get designed.
  • Willing to grow into a broader engineering role over time as the function matures.

Why Join
  • Rebalance a team in motion. This role exists because we are deliberately reshaping how the EPC team works. Your work directly enables our Project Engineers to focus on engineering, which means your contribution shows up in every project we deliver.
  • Real pipeline, real volume. A growing project pipeline and an expanding commissioned portfolio. There is no shortage of work to own.
  • Cross-functional exposure. You sit at the intersection of clients, subcontractors, suppliers, authorities, and internal teams. The role builds a wide operational view of how a solar EPC actually runs.
  • Path to grow. As the function matures and the team scales, this role is a credible step toward a Project Engineer or coordination-lead seat.
  • Direct access. Direct line to the Chief Engineer and visibility to the Chief Executive Officer.
  • Profit-sharing participation. EPC engineers participate in a profit-sharing scheme that aligns individual performance with company results. Final scope of participation for this role will be confirmed at offer stage.

How to Apply

Send your CV with a short note on the largest or most complex project you have personally coordinated. Tell us how many parties you were holding together, what tracking system you used, and the worst coordination failure you caught and recovered from. If you have prior experience preparing eAtap, ST, or GITA submissions, walk us through one.
