We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as Assistant Manager, Tax based in our Kuala Lumpur. Reporting to the Director, this full-time and permanent position is based in Malaysia and offers great coverage, allowing you to make a significant impact to our business and its growth.
Key responsibilities:
- Review & Quality Control: Review tax computations, returns, advisory work, and final deliverables prepared by the team to ensure technical accuracy and compliance before submission to clients and authorities.
- Tax Compliance & Advisory Oversight: Identify tax issues, clear review points, conduct research, and oversee advisory, transfer pricing, and tax auditrelated work.
- Client & Authority Liaison: Act as a key contact for clients and authorities (e.g. IRB and other regulators) on tax matters, audits, refunds, credits, and approvals.
- Timely Statutory Submissions: Ensure timely submission of tax filings, payments, estimates, and related statutory requirements.
- People Management & Development: Allocate work, mentor and coach staff, conduct evaluations and training, and support team capability building.
- Client Relationship Management: Manage and maintain strong client relationships to ensure satisfaction, retention, and achievement of individual and team targets.
- Business Development & Cross-Selling: Identify new opportunities from existing and potential clients, support proposals, and assist in cross-selling services.
- Administrative & Financial Oversight: Oversee client tracking, proposals, billing, and support directors in receivables collection.
- Professional & Market Presence: Conduct client and authority meetings independently, contribute to publications, speak at seminars/workshops, and stay updated on technical and business developments.
Key requirements:
- Minimum degree in Finance/Accounting or professional qualification (ACCA/CIMA/CPA/CIA) or equivalent.
- At least 4 years of experience in taxation
- Have a good understanding and knowledge of accounting and tax principles such as income, deductible expenditure, capital allowances, reinvestment allowance, key double deductions, tax administration matters, withholding tax and incentives.
We are looking for someone with:
- Good command of English, both written and spoken.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge on MS Office and Excel.
- Ability to work independently
- Has attention to details.
- Good time management and is a deadline drive person
