Our practice specializes in the Upstream industry, advising industry leaders, policy makers and regulators, and investors on the most relevant industry topics:

  • Upstream Oil & Gas (Exploration & Production)
  • Growth Strategies (Organic Conventional, Unconventionals, M&A)
  • Field Development Planning, Supply Chain Management, and Cost Optimization
  • Subsurface (e.g. Reservoir Engineering, Production Optimization)
  • Trends in Oilfield Technology, Water Management, Decommissioning, etc.

Responsibilities & Impact: A Consulting Associate Director, Upstream is responsible for delivering consulting projects involving strategic support, transaction due diligence, portfolio and asset evaluation, technical analysis, economic modeling and/or advance analytics. This position has direct interface with clients and plays a key role in successfully delivering consulting engagements and developing additional business.

You will be responsible for:

Project Management:

  • Manage project teams in execution of scope and ensure deliverable quality
  • Support project director with client engagement and preparing for discussions
  • Deliver project, balancing time and budget while ensuring client satisfaction

Business Development

  • Identify follow on work opportunities to practice leadership
  • Scope projects and write proposals
  • Develop offering collateral (quals, capability overviews, thought leadership)

Leadership, Mentoring, and Expertise

  • Teach team members analytical and communication skills
  • Share industry knowledge and expertise on projects and to team
  • Lead by example to foster a culture of partnership, integrity, and excellence

Innovation

  • Apply enterprise capabilities in data science and Gen/Agentic AI to projects
  • Create enhanced deliverables (e.g. dashboards, models chatbots, etc.)
  • Develop capabilities, automations, and IP to repurpose across projects

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience and interest in the Energy Industry
  • 10+ years of professional experience with major oil and gas companies (experience in project management strongly preferred)
  • Prior management consulting or strategic advisory experience strongly preferred
  • Track record of successful projects that included deliverables beyond spreadsheets and presentations, such as large datasets, data visualizations, dynamic models, tools, etc.
  • Professional verbal and written communication in English
  • A bachelor or master's degree (or equivalent degree) in economics, engineering, mathematics, computer science or energy related technical field
  • Familiarity and proficiency with a variety of data analytics technologies (e.g. PowerBI, Tableau, Spotfire, Python/R, Excel VBA, Databricks, Snowflake, etc.)
  • Must be capable of not only seeing the big picture and communicating a compelling story, but also delving into its technical details to highlight key elements
  • A keen attention to details and highly effective organization and prioritization skills, including the ability to stay on task and maintain focus in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Must have the ability to work independently with limited supervision, but also to understand the needs of other consultants and researchers, and the timing of those needs
