ROLE PURPOSE
Undertake strategic development and implementation of Jabatan Ekonomi's macro-frame forecasting framework by applying advanced macroeconomic and quantitative expertise to enhance forecast accuracy, ensure coherence across sectoral and aggregate perspectives, and support policy formulation aligned with the Bank's strategic objectives.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Develop and implement a macro-frame forecasting framework that integrates sectoral and aggregate perspectives, ensuring consistency with macroeconomic narratives.
- Support the development and refinement of macro-frame forecasting models and bottom-up tools, ensuring consistency with sectoral forecasts and macroeconomic narratives.
- Assist in scenario analysis and simulations to evaluate the impact of external shocks and domestic policy changes on Malaysia's macroeconomic outlook.
- Provide technical guidance on econometric forecasting and structured evaluation of forecast performance to strengthen analytical rigor.
- Participate in capacity-building initiatives by supporting workshops and contributing to knowledge-sharing efforts within the team.
- Prepare inputs for communication materials (working papers, reports, publications) to articulate macroeconomic assessments for internal and external stakeholders.
- Perform administrative tasks, where necessary, to ensure smooth operations and business continuity.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Academic Qualifications: First Degree in Economics (preferred), Econometrics, Mathematics, or related field. Master's in Economics/Econometrics is an advantage.
- Experience: 23 years in macroeconomic analysis, forecasting, or policy research preferred.
- A Malaysian citizen.
