Role Summary

The Associate Engineer plays a hands-on development role within Company's Prototyping / Utility Lab for Scenario Exploration (PULSE) - a cross-functional team dedicated to rapid prototyping, technical experimentation, and real-world scenario validation. This position supports the design, development, and testing of prototype solutions across data, cloud, and UI environments. Working closely with the Lead Developer and Technical Product team, the Associate Engineer helps transform conceptual ideas into demonstrable outcomes. A key focus of this role is data management and ETL development, supporting the movement, transformation, and preparation of data that underpins PULSE prototypes and experiments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Development & Prototyping
  • Contribute to end-to-end development of prototypes, integrations, and data-driven applications.
  • Design, build, and test data management and ETL workflows using Python, SQL, or Spark.
  • Prepare, transform, and validate datasets to ensure accuracy and completeness for prototype use.
  • Develop APIs, data integrations, or dashboards using React, Streamlit, Tableau, or Power BI.
  • Ensure all development adheres to PULSE quality, documentation, and coding standards.
  • Collaboration & Learning
  • Work under the direction of the Lead Developer to execute technical designs and proof-of-concept builds.
  • Participate in sprint ceremonies and collaborate with team members to meet defined objectives.
  • Engage with Product, Data, and Architecture teams to understand requirements and deliver fit-for-purpose solutions.
  • Proactively expand technical skills across data engineering, cloud tools, and prototype frameworks.
  • Quality & Delivery
  • Validate data integrity, monitor data processing jobs, and ensure successful output delivery.
  • Apply best practices for secure, maintainable, and reusable code.
  • Assist in preparing documentation, demonstrations, and hand-offs for validated prototypes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Proficiency in at least one development language (Python, Java, or SQL/Spark) and familiarity with the others.
  • Hands-on experience or strong interest in data management, ETL development, or data pipeline design.
  • Working knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Snowflake, or Databricks.
  • Understanding of API integration and basic front-end visualization principles.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills within a collaborative team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project or internship experience in data engineering, analytics, or software development.
  • Familiarity with version control (e.g., Git), CI/CD processes, and agile delivery methodologies
  • Curiosity and initiative to explore emerging technologies and contribute to continuous improvement.
