Position: Assistant Project Manager
Duration: 2 years extendable
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
Minimum four (4) years of experience in a hands-on project management support role, assisting in the planning, execution, monitoring, and control of medium-to-large IT-related projects, with demonstrated ability to manage and coordinate multiple project workstream concurrently.
Experience in investment or financial related projects or systems is an added advantage.
Familiarity with wide range of project delivery methodologies, including Waterfall and Agile approaches, with the ability to apply the appropriate methodology based on project needs.
Possess any project management certification or professional certification related to the role (please list out).
Demonstrated practical knowledge and involvement in:
a) Project initiation and planning activities
b) Implementation and rollout planning
c) Change management and impact assessment
d) Risk and issue management
e) Stakeholder communication and coordination
f) Governance and reporting
Strong analytical, communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, vendors, and senior stakeholders.
Proficient in the use of project management tools and documentation standards (e.g. project plans, RAID, logs, status reports, dashboards).
Willing to be assigned to manage multiple projects concurrently.
Excellent communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Project Manager in end-to-end project delivery, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closure of assigned project scopes or workstreams.
Develop, maintain, and refine detailed project plans, schedules, milestones, and dependency mappings for assigned areas of the project.
Monitor project performance against approved scope, schedule, and milestones, and analyze variances, root cause, and delivery impacts.
Actively identify, assess, and manage project risks, issues, and dependencies, including proposing mitigation or resolution strategies for review by the Project Manager.
Support change management activities, including impact analysis, effort estimation, documentation of change requests, and coordination of approvals by the project governance.
Assist in preparing the project status reports, dashboards, risk summaries, and management papers.
Engage in business stakeholders, project workstreams teams, and vendors to clarify requirements, resolve delivery issues, and align expectations.
Support testing, implementation, and deployment activities including readiness assessments, cutover coordination, and post-implementation support activities.
Ensure project execution aligns with organizational PMO standards, methodologies, and governance requirements.
Maintain and grow professional competence through:
a) Participation in training programs, workshops, and technical courses
b) Reading technical and professional publications
c) Engaging in relevant professional communities and network
d) Active participation in professional organization or peer learning group
