Audit Partner / Audit Track Partner

(Confidential | Kuala Lumpur )

Our client is a well-established professional services firm with a strong reputation in Audit & Assurance, serving public interest entities, public listed companies, multinational groups, and SMEs across Malaysia.

As part of their continued growth, they are seeking an Audit Partner or Audit Track Partner to lead and expand their audit practice. This role offers a clear pathway to partnership (where applicable) and the opportunity to shape audit strategy, client portfolio development, and people leadership in a regulated, quality-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

Practice & Engagement Leadership

  • Lead statutory audits for Public Interest Entities (PIEs), listed companies, and large corporates in compliance with applicable auditing and financial reporting standards.
  • Provide overall engagement oversight including planning, risk assessment, quality review, and final sign-off.
  • Act as Engagement Partner and/or EQCR where required under quality control and regulatory standards.

Business Development & Client Relationship Management

  • Build, manage, and grow a sustainable audit portfolio.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients on audit, governance, financial reporting, and regulatory matters.
  • Support cross-selling of advisory, tax, and risk services where appropriate.

Regulatory & Quality Oversight

  • Ensure full compliance with Audit Oversight Board (AOB) requirements, professional standards, and internal quality management systems.
  • Lead remediation efforts arising from internal or external inspections.
  • Uphold strong independence, ethics, and governance culture across engagements.

People & Practice Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop audit managers and senior staff.
  • Oversee engagement staffing, resource planning, and succession planning.
  • Contribute to firm-wide strategy, operational improvement, and long-term growth initiatives.

Requirements

Professional Qualifications

  • Chartered Accountant (e.g. MIA member).
  • Registered or eligible as an AOB-approved auditor.
  • Valid practicing certificate or ability to obtain one.

Experience

  • Minimum 10–15 years of progressive audit experience within reputable professional services firms.
  • Demonstrated experience leading PIE or listed company audits.
  • Prior experience as Audit Director, Audit Partner, or Partner-track professional preferred.
  • Exposure to practice development, branch leadership, or portfolio ownership is a strong advantage.
