Job Description

The Automotive Technical Manager & Negotiator is a full-time, on-site role based in Bandar Baru Bangi. This role oversees vehicle technical inspections, ensures accurate assessment of car conditions, and provides guidance on repair, refurbishment, and pricing decisions. The individual will negotiate with sellers and buyers on vehicle prices and terms, balancing customer satisfaction with business objectives. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing inspection reports, collaborating with operations and sales teams, resolving technical disputes, and maintaining quality standards for all vehicles processed. The role also involves mentoring inspection staff, optimizing inspection processes, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives aligned with CARSOME's core values.

Qualifications

  • Strong automotive technical expertise, including vehicle diagnostics, inspection standards, and familiarity with common mechanical and bodywork issues.
  • Experience in price negotiation, deal structuring, and stakeholder management in automotive or related industries.
  • Solid analytical and decision-making skills for evaluating repair costs, market values, and risk factors.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven leadership capabilities, including team coordination, coaching, and performance monitoring.
  • Knowledge of used car market dynamics, automotive regulations, and industry best practices is highly beneficial.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, on-site operational environment and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Diploma or degree in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Experiences

  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience in the automotive industry, preferably in used car evaluation, vehicle inspection, workshop technical operations, or car purchasing.
  • Proven experience in leading a team of inspectors, evaluators, or technical staff.
  • Hands-on experience in vehicle assessment, repair estimation, and automotive negotiation with customers or suppliers.
  • Exposure to used car retail, automotive trading, vehicle refurbishment, or fleet evaluation environment is an advantage.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong technical knowledge of vehicle systems, body and paint condition, accident detection, engine and transmission performance, and general mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Strong negotiation, influencing, and objection-handling skills.
  • Good commercial acumen with the ability to balance technical assessment, market pricing, and profit margin.
  • Strong leadership and team management capability.
  • Good understanding of used car market pricing, depreciation, and resale considerations.
