Overview:
A leading financial institution is seeking a seasoned Database Management leader to oversee enterprise database infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and resilience across mission-critical systems. This role requires both hands-on technical expertise and the ability to drive strategic database architecture decisions in a high-demand production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage database infrastructure operations, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and security across systems.
- Provide technical consultation and support to internal stakeholders including application teams and end-users.
- Design, implement, and maintain high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) strategies for critical database environments.
- Manage and optimize database replication architectures (Master-Slave, Multi-Master).
- Drive root cause analysis (RCA) for high-impact incidents and implement long-term solutions to prevent recurrence.
- Develop and maintain automation tools, scripts, and monitoring solutions for database and server infrastructure.
- Perform database performance tuning, including query optimization and indexing strategies.
- Oversee capacity planning, backup strategies, and system upgrades to ensure scalability and resilience.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support application deployments and system integrations.
- Ensure compliance with internal governance, security policies, and regulatory requirements.
Technical Requirements:
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL) database management.
- Proven experience in:
- Database replication (Master-Slave, Multi-Master)
- High Availability (HA) & Disaster Recovery (DR) implementation in production environments
- Experience with MaxScale HA Proxy implementation.
- Solid experience in database performance tuning (query optimization, indexing, execution plans).
- Working knowledge of Unix/Linux commands for system-level operations.
- Exposure to NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB) is an added advantage.
Leadership & Functional Competencies:
- Strong analytical thinking with ability to handle high-pressure production issues.
- Ability to translate technical issues into clear business impact and resolution plans.
- Proactive mindset in identifying risks and implementing preventive measures.
- Good stakeholder management and communication skills across technical and non-technical teams.
- Ability to lead initiatives and guide junior team members where required.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Minimum 10–12 years of experience in database administration or infrastructure roles. (Banking Industry)
- Prior experience in financial services / banking environment is highly preferred.
- Experience handling enterprise-scale, mission-critical systems.
