About the Role
We are looking for a Backend Developer to join our engineering team at Bitlab. You will be involved in building scalable web applications and digital platforms for regional clients across government, financial services, education, and travel industries.
This role offers the opportunity to work across the full development lifecycle - from ideation and architecture to deployment and continuous improvement.
Your responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs for web applications
- Work closely with product, design, and frontend teams to deliver end-to-end features
- Translate business requirements into scalable and maintainable technical solutions
- Build and integrate RESTful APIs and third-party services
- Ensure application performance, security, and reliability
- Design and manage efficient data models and database structures
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment processes
- Troubleshoot, debug, and enhance existing systems
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience in web application development (Fresh graduates with strong fundamentals are encouraged to apply)
- Solid understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP)
- Experience with .NET (Core / Framework) or similar MVC frameworks (e.g. Spring Boot)
- Knowledge of RESTful API design and integration
- Familiarity with SQL and database design principles
- Experience with version control systems (e.g. Git)
- Basic understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
- Strong willingness to learn and adopt new technologies
Nice to Have (Bonus Skills)
- Experience with Umbraco CMS
- Familiarity with frontend frameworks (e.g. React, Vue)
- Experience building APIs for mobile applications
- Knowledge of Entity Framework / EF Core
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server
- Familiarity with IIS deployment
- Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure / AWS)
- Basic understanding of application security / OWASP practices
