Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and optimize wave soldering processes for new and existing products, ensuring high quality and efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain process control plans to ensure consistent and defect-free soldering.
  • Conduct process qualification and validation studies.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on wave soldering equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve soldering issues, including rework processes.
  • Manage spare parts for soldering equipment.
  • Inspect PCBs for solder quality and cleanliness.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications.
  • Work closely with production, engineering, and other departments to ensure smooth operation of the wave soldering process.
  • Provide technical support and training to soldering technicians.
  • Participate in new product introduction (NPI) activities to ensure manufacturability and maintain process control to ensure a consistent and zero-defect soldering process.
  • Analyze soldering process data to identify areas for improvement.
  • Implement and track process improvements.
  • Knowledge of wave soldering principles, processes, and equipment (wave machine, fluxer, washing and coating)
  • Familiarity with soldering materials, fluxes, and cleaning agents.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency in using soldering equipment and tools.
  • Knowledge of soldering defects and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ability & knowledge in Conformal Coating Process Development & Optimization
    • Develop and validate conformal coating processes (spray, selective coating, dip coating, manual touch-up).
    • Define process parameters, control plans, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
    • Own the setup, programming, and optimization of selective coating machines (e.g., Nordson, Asymtek, PVA).
Qualifications

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Diploma holders with strong hands‑on SMT equipment experience may also be considered
  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years Technical Skills in following
    • Hands-on troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and software issues on wave soldering and backend manufacturing equipment's
    • Thermal profiling and optimization
    • Machine capability studies (Cp/Cpk)
    • Equipment GR&R and MSA
    • Familiarity with IPC standards:
  • IPC‑A‑610, IPC‑7351, and relevant SMT design/manufacturing guidelines.
  • Experience in wave soldering processes, PCB manufacturing, and soldering equipment maintenance.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficient in English and Bahasa Malaysia
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Knowledge of electronic manufacturing processes.
  • Understanding of quality control and statistical process control (SPC) methods.
  • Ability to work with various soldering equipment and tools.
