Role Description and Qualifications:
Education requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, construction, or related field, specialist.
- Preferred: Advanced certifications in BIM Management (e.g., CIDB BIM Manager certification or equivalent, building SMART Professional Certification, Autodesk Certified Professional, AGC Certificate of Management – BIM, or ISO 19650-aligned training), Project Management (PMP or similar), or related areas.
Experience requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in BIM technologies and processes within the AEC industry.
- At least 2–3 years in a leadership or supervisory role, managing BIM teams, implementations, or department-level BIM functions.
- Proven track record in BIM process organization, development and enforcement of company-wide BIM standards, SOPs, and international/ local best practices (including ISO 19650, CIDB guidelines, and PAS/ BS standards where applicable).
- Strong knowledge of architectural, structural, and MEP design principles.
- Expertise in the BIM software ecosystem, including Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, BIM 360/ ACC, Solibri, or equivalent coordination/validation tools.
- Preferable: Awareness of strategic BIM trends, including digital twins, lifecycle management (design to FM), sustainability integration, automation, and data-driven construction.
Responsibilities and Assessment:
- Lead, organize, and manage the BIM Team, including resource planning, workload distribution, task creation/ assignment and day-to-day oversight of team performance.
- Develop and implement the organization's BIM strategy, policies, standards, SOPs, model templates, families, content libraries, and workflows to drive efficiency and consistency across projects.
- Collect client and project requirements; prepare, customize, and maintain BIM Execution Plans (BEP) for each project in alignment with EIRs and company standards.
- Coordinate with other departments, multidisciplinary teams, consultants, contractors, and external stakeholders to ensure the BIM department fulfils the project goals and deliverables.
- Oversee BIM project design, implementation, execution and monitoring throughout the project lifecycle, including model federation, clash detection support, quality assurance and handover processes.
- Define, monitor and improve productivity metrics; streamline BIM workflows, automate routine tasks, and optimize resource consumption.
- Conduct quality control, model audits, compliance checks, and evaluations of BIM outputs to ensure adherence to standards, completeness and formatting requirements.
- Lead BIM strategy development, team competency assessments, training/ mentoring programs, skill gap analysis and continuous professional development for BIM staff.
- Evaluate BIM software/ tools, market options, licenses and hardware; recommend selections based on project needs and company strategy.
- Provide technical guidance, problem-solving and decision-making support to project teams and the BIM department.
- Monitor project progress, task execution and resource utilization; escalate issues and resolve bottlenecks.
- Drive BIM adoption, efficiency gains and value creation (e.g., clash reduction, sustainable design integration, lifecycle cost savings).
- Prepare executive reports, performance dashboards and stakeholder communications on BIM metrics, outcomes, and innovations.
- Participate in technical assessments/ interviews for new BIM hires (Engineers, Coordinators, etc.) and support onboarding processes.
- Stay current with BIM innovations, industry networks, standards updates (e.g., CIDB, ISO) and emerging technologies.
- Assist with ad-hoc tasks as required to support company objectives.
