BIM Modeller / Designer

Position Title: BIM Modeller / Designer

Reports to: Principal Electrical Engineer

Immediate Subordinates: Engineers / Design Modellers

Primary Functions and Responsibilities

● Design and documentation of projects in 3D Revit and companion applications

● Acting as the key interface between engineering and modelling staff

● Responsible for assigned tasks and projects

● Deliver engineered work to overseeing engineers and clients in accordance with client

briefs

● Professional team member

● Working primarily in electrical services, however working as required in other building

services including mechanical, fire, and hydraulics services, commensurate with a

multidisciplinary building services practice

Major Activities

● Under direction, reviewing project briefs and various authority requirements and

incorporating them into documented designs

● Liaising with Engineers in formulating conceptual design for projects

● Under direction, design and documentation of electrical power, lighting, communications,

security, dry fire and other electrical building services systems

● Preparation and amendment of 2D CAD drawings and 3D models

● 3D modelling coordination in accordance with project BIM execution plans

● Attending internal project meetings as required

● Undertaking site audits and investigations

● Assistance with preparation of project construction and variation estimates

● Assessing brief changes against fee proposals and agreed extent of works

● Preparing certification documents for project engineers and issuing to authorities

● Liaising with regulatory authorities and assessing applicable regulations

● Coordination across different disciplines within the Company

● Under direction, coordination of design documentation with other project consultants

● Reviewing documentation carried out by staff

● Preparation and overseeing of documentation for various stages of projects

● Meeting client and project requirements and achieving acceptable financial outcomes

● Attending company meetings as a key team member, including operational and project

meetings

● Promoting and advancing the Company in a professional manner aligned to the

Company's strategic direction

● Assisting other staff members from time to time in the running of the office and in project

delivery

Authority

Authorised company representative regarding engineering design, electrical services team, and

quality assurance matters.

Position Specification

● Formal engineering qualifications

● Ability to accept responsibilities

● Effective communication skills, both oral and written, internally and with other

consultants

● Proactive and creative approach

● General computer and computer-aided calculation and modelling skills

● Understanding of job costing and sound business acumen

● Basic knowledge of all Company engineering service disciplines and disciplines external

to the Company

● Understanding of various building industry project delivery methods

● Knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, NCC, and Building Regulations

● Keeping abreast of latest technology and innovative solutions
