Job Summary
We are seeking a BKC Release Engineer to own and execute BestKnown Configuration (BKC) releases across multiple SoC platform programs. This role is responsible for integrating, validating, packaging, and publishing platform software and firmware release bundles that serve as customerready, validated baseline configurations.
The role works at the intersection of BIOS, firmware, OS, drivers, validation, and program management, ensuring that all released components are versionaligned, tested, documented, and delivered on schedule across a broad portfolio of platforms.
This position is critical to sustaining current releases, enabling customer programs, and scaling BKC release capability across IPU, NEX, and future platforms.
Key Responsibilities
BKC Release Execution
- Build and deliver BKC (BestKnown Configuration) release packages across multiple Intel programs,.
- Collect, integrate, and package BIOS, IFWI, firmware, microcode, drivers, OS images, and tools into consistent, versionlocked release bundles.
- Generate release artifacts (kits/images), publish releases via standard Intel release portals, and ensure traceability of all included components.
Validation & Quality
- Perform basic systemlevel validation including boot checks, smoke tests, and functional sanity testing prior to release.
- Review known issues, waivers, and limitations; ensure these are accurately captured in release notes and customer guidance documents.
- Partner with validation teams to understand coverage status (Silver / Gold / Full BKC) and ensure releases meet the required readiness bar.
Release Management & Documentation
- Track firmware and software versions across releases and maintain clear, auditable release records.
- Author and maintain release notes, guidance documents, and internal handoff documentation.
- Ensure release requests, approvals, and publication follow defined BKC workflows and SLAs.
CrossFunctional Coordination
- Work closely with BIOS, firmware, OS, security, validation, and program management teams to resolve integration issues and unblock releases.
- Troubleshoot integration and configuration issues and drive resolution with the appropriate engineering owners.
- Coordinate work across multiple time zones and participate in crossteam technical and release readiness meetings.
Tooling, Automation & Process
- Use and support standard tools and workflows such as Git, scripting (Python/Bash), CI pipelines, and release automation frameworks.
- Contribute to sustaining and auxiliary activities (as applicable), including FITM (Modular Flash Image Tool), FSP sustaining work, Ethernet image workflows, and benchmarking (VRC/VRB) to maximize utilization outside peak BKC windows.
- Support onboarding, documentation, and knowledge transfer to help scale BKC release expertise across teams.
Role Constraints
- Understand and operate within contractor / Green Badge constraints, including limitations around direct customerfacing or vendorfacing responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
- Strong foundation in software or firmware engineering, systems integration, or platform enablement.
- Experience working with BIOS, firmware, OS, drivers, or lowlevel platform software.
- Handson experience with Linux and/or Windows Server environments.
- Working knowledge of version control (Git) and scripting (Python, Bash, or equivalent).
- Ability to debug integration issues across multiple layers (firmware ,OS , drivers).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for managing complex, multicomponent releases.
- Comfortable working across global teams and time zones.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with BKC, platform releases, or systemlevel integration.
- Familiarity with Intel platform components such as IFWI, microcode, ACMs, SPS, TDX/SGX, or BMC firmware.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automation, or release engineering.
- Exposure to datacenter, server, or SoC platforms.
- Experience maintaining customerfacing release notes or guidance documents.
