Job Description
- Manage and ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of boiler and steam generation systems supporting oleochemical production processes.
- Ensure continuous and stable steam supply to critical processes including fat splitting/hydrolysis, fatty acid distillation, glycerine processing, hydrogenation, deodorization, evaporation and other utility consumers.
- Monitor and optimize boiler operating parameters including steam pressure, temperature, water level, combustion performance, fuel consumption and steam generation capacity.
- Ensure adequate steam availability and pressure stability to support production requirements, particularly for high-pressure steam and process heating applications.
- Plan and execute preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance for boilers, burners, steam headers, valves, pumps, feedwater systems, deaerators, condensate systems and associated equipment.
- Troubleshoot boiler and steam-system problems and lead root cause analysis (RCA) to prevent recurring failures and production interruptions.
- Monitor and optimize boiler efficiency, fuel-to-steam ratio, excess oxygen, blowdown rate and overall energy consumption.
- Develop initiatives to reduce utility costs through steam optimization, condensate recovery, heat recovery, boiler efficiency improvement and reduction of steam losses.
- Monitor and maintain the steam distribution network, including steam traps, PRVs, control valves, steam headers, condensate return lines and pressure-reducing stations.
- Support production during plant start-up, shutdown and process upsets, ensuring steam systems are operated safely and restored promptly.
- Coordinate boiler shutdowns, statutory inspections, internal inspections, tube inspections, cleaning, overhaul and major maintenance activities.
- Ensure boilers, pressure vessels and related equipment comply with DOSH/JKKP statutory requirements, inspection schedules and company standards.
- Prepare and maintain boiler operating procedures, emergency procedures, maintenance standards, inspection records and performance reports.
- Participate in CAPEX and plant improvement projects involving boilers, steam distribution, heat exchangers, condensate recovery, thermal oil systems and other utility systems.
- Provide technical input for the selection, sizing and installation of boilers, steam valves, pumps, heat exchangers, steam traps and utility equipment.
- Monitor and control contractor activities during boiler maintenance, modification, installation and commissioning works.
- Maintain appropriate levels of critical spare parts and ensure timely procurement of boiler and steam-system components.
- Prepare regular reports covering boiler efficiency, steam production, fuel consumption, downtime, maintenance status, water quality and energy performance.

- 3–5 years of relevant experience in boiler, steam, utilities or process engineering, preferably within the oleochemical, palm oil, edible oil, chemical, refinery or related process industries.
- Strong practical knowledge of industrial boilers, steam distribution, condensate recovery, feedwater systems, burners and combustion systems.
- Understanding of oleochemical manufacturing processes and their steam/utility requirements will be an advantage.
- Knowledge of high-pressure steam systems, steam traps, PRVs, control valves, heat exchangers and condensate systems.
- Good understanding of boiler water treatment and boiler chemistry.
- Familiarity with DOSH/JKKP requirements and statutory inspection of boilers and pressure vessels in Malaysia..
