Role Overview

We are seeking a bilingual, detail-oriented offshore team member based in Malaysia to support our accounting, tax, migration and property-management operations. This role combines administrative duties with hands-on bookkeeping and basic tax preparation to ensure the staff member understands the full workflow and the importance of accurate systems.

The ideal candidate is organized, reliable, and committed to learning Australian accounting and tax processes.

Key Responsibilities

Bookkeeping & Accounting Support

  • Process invoices, receipts, bills, and bank transactions.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Prepare basic financial schedules and working papers.
  • Support Xero-based bookkeeping workflows (training provided).

Basic Tax Preparation

  • Assist with preparing simple individual tax returns under supervision.
  • Prepare basic schedules (e.g., rental property, work-related deductions).
  • Organize and verify client documents for tax lodgement.
  • Support data entry for BAS/GST-related tasks (training provided).

Administrative & Operational Support

  • Prepare documents, checklists, and internal templates.
  • Maintain filing systems, naming conventions, and workflow tracking.
  • Assist with occasional migration case preparation (forms, documents, summaries).
  • Draft emails and client communication in English and Chinese.
  • Coordinate tasks with the Australian team and follow up on outstanding items.

Required Skills & Attributes

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin (written and spoken).
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • High level of honesty, reliability, and professional ethics.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Willingness to learn Australian bookkeeping and tax systems.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and ownership of tasks.

Preferred Qualifications (Added advantage)

  • Experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or office administration.
  • Familiarity with Australian tax or legal systems (ATO, BAS, GST, ASIC).
  • Experience with cloud systems such as Xero, FYI Docs, SharePoint, Teams.
  • Certificate/Diploma/degree in accounting, business, finance, or related fields..
