What you'll do:
As a Business Controller based in Shah Alam, you will play a crucial role in steering financial strategy for the South East & East Asia region. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve collaborating closely with regional management teams to deliver timely financial reports, develop meaningful action plans based on thorough analysis of actuals versus budgets, and ensure compliance with both internal policies and external regulations. You will be instrumental in supporting importers across Hong Kong, Malaysia, Brunei, The Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and Taiwan by providing data-driven insights that guide market prioritisation decisions. In addition to overseeing treasury functions and risk management support activities, you will help define strategic objectives for the region's three-year rolling business plan. Your ability to coordinate production planning forecasts between factories will be essential for maintaining efficient operations. By driving positive change in processes and procedures for greater efficiency-and fostering strong relationships among controllers throughout the organisation-you will contribute significantly to the ongoing success of the regional hub.
* Prepare, review, and analyse monthly management and operational KPI reports to provide actionable insights for business improvement.
* Develop, implement, and monitor targets and budgets while conducting variance analysis against forecasts to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
* Ensure uniform accounting practices and robust internal controls are maintained in accordance with group financial policies and procedures.
* Oversee compliance with all Malaysian legal and statutory requirements for the local entity.
* Perform detailed operational and financial analysis to support continuous business growth across multiple markets.
* Provide dotted line oversight for dealership business control and finance operations in Singapore, ensuring alignment with group standards.
* Monitor cash flow by managing vehicle inventory cycles, stock ordering processes, overdue accounts, importer stock levels, and treasury activities in cooperation with the central treasury team.
* Support the Regional Director in defining strategic direction through annual revisions of rolling three-year business plans.
* Coordinate production planning forecasts using internal system tools while facilitating order management between various factories.
* Drive governance of regional management teams by organising monthly performance meetings and ensuring effective communication of results.
What you bring:
Your proven experience as a Business Controller will enable you to excel in this multifaceted role. Drawing upon your background in financial management or business control-ideally gained over five years-you will bring deep expertise in developing budgets, analysing variances against forecasts, and implementing robust internal controls. Your certified accountant credentials or relevant academic qualifications will underpin your ability to maintain compliance with statutory requirements while supporting continuous improvement initiatives. Fluency in English (and any additional South East Asian languages) will facilitate effective communication across diverse teams spanning multiple countries. Your advanced computer skills-including mastery of Microsoft Office applications and SAP accounting software-will allow you to efficiently manage complex reporting tasks. A collaborative approach combined with conscientiousness, integrity, empathy towards colleagues, and commitment to shared goals will make you an invaluable member of the regional hub's management team. Experience working at senior levels within multinational environments-especially those involving international truck brands-will further strengthen your ability to navigate cross-cultural challenges while driving positive change throughout the organisation.
* At least five years experience in similar positions within financial management or business control roles is required for success in this position.
* Certified accountant status or possession of a university degree in Financial Accounting; finalist status in Professional Accounting Examinations such as MICPA or ACCA is highly desirable.
* Fluency in spoken and written English is essential; proficiency in any South East Asian language would be considered an advantage.
* Demonstrated knowledge of trade and export financing principles along with strong customer orientation and partnership mindset when working with importers.
* Excellent communication skills-both written and verbal-are necessary for effective collaboration across multinational teams.
* High level of computer literacy including advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office suite; familiarity with SAP accounting systems is preferred.
* Ability to work dependably both independently and as part of a team while consistently delivering results on time.
* Proven track record of performance-driven change management initiatives that enhance process efficiency within complex organisations.
* Commercial acumen encompassing overall sense of running business operations including service sales development is important for this role.
* Experience working at management level within multinational automotive companies for at least three years is required; prior exposure to international truck brands in South East Asia is a major plus.
