Job Description

JOB PURPOSE

The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities, building strong relationships with clients and business partners, and supporting the Company's growth in the electrical, M&E, construction and related industries.

The role involves developing new leads, securing projects, managing client relationships, preparing business proposals and tenders, and working closely with internal teams to ensure successful project opportunities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Business Development & Sales

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities within the electrical, M&E, construction and related industries.
  • Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of potential projects and clients.
  • Conduct market research to identify potential clients, projects, market trends and business opportunities.
  • Generate leads through networking, industry contacts, referrals, tender platforms and other business channels.
  • Develop strategies to achieve business development and sales targets.

2. Client & Business Relationship Management

  • Establish and maintain good relationships with existing and potential clients, consultants, main contractors, developers and business partners.
  • Attend client meetings, business discussions, networking events and industry functions.
  • Understand clients requirements and identify suitable solutions and services offered by the Company.
  • Maintain regular communication with key clients and follow up on business opportunities.

3. Tender & Project Opportunities

  • Identify suitable tender and project opportunities for the Company.
  • Review tender invitations, project requirements, scope of work and commercial requirements.
  • Coordinate with the Quantity Surveyor, Engineering, Project and Management teams in preparing tenders and proposals.
  • Follow up on tender status, clarification, negotiation and award opportunities.
  • Assist management in evaluating the commercial viability and potential risks of new projects.

4. Proposal & Commercial Development

  • Prepare business proposals, presentations, quotations and other commercial documents.
  • Participate in commercial negotiations with clients and business partners.
  • Develop pricing and business strategies together with the relevant internal teams.
  • Ensure proposals are aligned with the Company's business objectives and requirements.

5. Market Development

  • Monitor market developments, competitors and industry trends.
  • Identify new sectors, customers and geographical markets that may provide business opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain a database of potential clients, projects and business contacts.
  • Provide regular market and business development updates to management.

6. Internal Coordination

  • Work closely with Management, Project, Engineering, Estimation, Procurement, Finance and other departments to support business opportunities.
  • Ensure proper handover of secured projects to the relevant project team.
  • Maintain proper records of business opportunities, client information, tenders and follow-up activities.

7. Reporting

  • Prepare regular business development reports covering leads, opportunities, tenders, negotiations and project awards.
  • Report sales pipeline and business development progress to management.
  • Provide recommendations to management on potential business opportunities and market strategies.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree / Diploma in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, Construction Management or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in business development, sales, tendering or commercial roles, preferably within the electrical, M&E, construction or engineering industry.
  • Strong network and established contacts with main contractors, developers, consultants and clients will be an advantage.
  • Good understanding of the electrical / M&E construction industry and project procurement process.
  • Experience in tendering, proposal preparation and commercial negotiation.
  • Strong communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Good business acumen with the ability to identify and evaluate business opportunities.
  • Able to work independently and manage multiple opportunities simultaneously.
  • Willing to travel for client meetings, project visits and business development activities when required.

Work Environment:

You will work in an office setting with regular site visits, requiring interaction with clients and on-site teams. This role demands flexibility and the ability to adapt to the dynamic needs of projects with varying technical requirements.
