Job Description:
- Working within a centralised BD team to provide high-quality and effective business development and marketing support for Wong & Partners.
- The candidate will have responsibility across the full spectrum of BD and marketing activities for various practice groups including preparing and producing events, proposals, marketing collaterals, directory submissions and significant ad-hoc projects.
- The candidate will also have an opportunity to experience general projects within the BD team and to provide general support to the team on matters such as tracking of initiatives and associated administrative tasks.
- Being in this position means the candidate will be trained in professional services marketing and stakeholder management, as well as experience a unique insight into how business works in corporate Malaysia and beyond through working in the BD team of an award-winning and progressive law firm
Duties & Responsibilities:
Deals/Matter Collection and Directory Submissions
- Coordinate deal/matter collection and reporting on a monthly basis.
- Maintain updated deal lists.
- Follow up on the status of key deals until completion.
- Maintain marketing diary with directory submission deadlines, keeping key stakeholders updated.
- Draft and coordinate submissions with PBS resources and lawyers.
- Monitor and comment on directory/league table submissions, to ensure all submissions are appropriate, consistent with the department plan and made on time.
Events
- Plan and manage events, including client training, seminars and sponsorships from inception to completion, to ensure maximum stand-out and ROI.
- Assist in the coordination and preparation of events such as seminars, conferences and social events. Work with JAO resources as appropriate.
Pitching
- Assist the partners in developing new business through pitching; providing background research, collating information on the firm's experience and producing a focused business proposal.
- Manage the production of pitches with PBS resources with great attention to detail and to agreed deadlines.
Internal
- Provide strategic/creative advice to partners in the assigned practice, to generate a department-wide business development strategy that will help raise the firm's profile and business opportunities in that area.
- Working with the Regional business development teams to ensure that these are consistent.
- Act as an advocate for the Business Development department at a practice level, ensuring key messages, brand strategy and marketing output in all its forms are properly understood and appreciated by partners and lawyers.
- Assist in drafting and compilation of BD activities for reporting purposes.
- Attend to marketing or business development requests on behalf of the office.
General Administration
- Assist in the coordination/distribution of client invitations, alerts & newsletters,
- corporate gifts, etc.
- Administration of BakerWorld pages.
- Administration of Global Pitch Tracker.
- Administration of empanelment applications.
- Maintain membership with various chambers and associations such as the American Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM), Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI), etc.
- Sourcing and management of corporate gifts and branded goods.
BD Resources
- Maintain firm profile and other centralised promotional materials.
- Prepare promotional packages for client visits, events, etc.
- Coordinate studio photo shoots for all lawyers (for use in CVs and other directories).
- Maintain Marketing Database/Interaction.
Publications
- Coordinate, format and disseminate relevant client alerts on an ad-hoc basis.
- Maintaining a record of articles submitted to various internal and external
- publications.
- Maintain CVs for all lawyers.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Ability to juggle a busy and varied workload, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
- Excellent command of the English language; any copywriting experience is an advantage
- Dynamism and great all-round communication skills
- Determination and commitment to ensure the successful completion of projects
- Creativity and initiative; the ability to work independently

Background:
- Degree, preferably in communications/marketing/business/law or one of the humanities.
- Previous relevant experience in professional services or client service roles, e.g., communications agency, PR and events, or advertising an advantage.
- Fresh graduates will be considered, but preferably candidates with at least a minimum of 3 years of working experience.
- Administrative experience is an advantage.
