As the Business Director of the fastest growing agency, the candidate needs to be goal orientated with strong business network. The candidate needs to set the strategy for people, products, profitability and positioning of the overall business. Candidate must possess excellent communication and presentation skills; strong client management and people management skills.

Reporting

Reports to the Managing Director.

Role Summary And Impact

  • Develop strong business network, well connected with media partners, marketing community, WPP agencies
  • Manage Clients assigned by bringing highly valued perspective based on a deep understanding of their business, issues and opportunities
  • Ensure key Clients overall satisfaction score is a minimum of 7.5/10 based on TRR (The Relationship Ratings) or equivalent Client score card.
  • Ensure each Client business is resourced with the right talents aptitude, attitude and skillsets
  • Ensure direct reports are given clear directions on the agency's priorities short term and long term
  • Inspire talents to deliver innovative ideas and best quality work, building trusted partner relationship with Clients
  • Ensure open and transparent engagement is maintained with teams at all times
  • Ensure timely team appraisals and clear goals are set for team members; identify and follow through with appropriate training and career development
  • Lead strategic conversations regarding the agency development with internal stakeholders and WPP Media management
  • Work with MD and commercial director on monthly, quarterly, half yearly and annually in meeting/exceeding the gross revenue and P&L set targets
  • Build strong positioning strategy for the agency, working alongside with the MD
  • Ensure selected new products / initiatives are rolled out to Clients

  • Thought leadership white papers
  • Represent the agency at Universities/Colleges student program lecturing, presentation, judging and student development introducing media industry to student
  • Deputize the MD when required and perform assigned duties

Skills And Experience

  • Minimum 15 years experience in advertising industry of which minimum 7 years in management role managing people and financials
  • Proven track record in winning new business pitches
  • A combination of creative, media, digital and/or social media agency experiences is necessary
  • FMCG, Telco, Airlines, Financial, Automotive and/or e-commerce category experiences will be an added advantage
  • A self-motivated goal getter with competitive entrepreneurial mind-set
  • Willing to work with start-up working culture in fast moving environment
  • Must be able to manage highly chaotic, demanding situations especially in times of crisis
  • Excellent communication, presentation, client management and people management skills
  • Maturity, stature, composure and presence are necessary traits as the candidate will be managing highly challenging senior clients and teams
  • Proven experience working with multiple stakeholders, e.g. suppliers, multiple advertising/marketing agencies, media owners

Business Director Success measures

  • Staff Retention develop plans to ensure staff attrition rate is at 25% and below
  • New hires work with talent team and ensure all approved headcounts are hired taking into consideration the clients business needs and agency culture
  • Products take lead from global and regional product launches and ensure 1 new product / new initiative launched every quarter, minimum 3 annually. Agency specific initiatives are considered as well.
  • WPP Media proprietary products work with the teams in strategizing plan of action
  • and ensure set targets are delivered
  • Business retention ensure every single business is retained with healthy relationship score, minimum 7.5/10
  • Gross margin/revenue / PBT are delivered based on the set target
  • Agency positioning ensure that the agency participates and win selected marketing/ advertising/media awards break the previous year records and aim to be the agency of the year
