The Role:
This is an indefinite role, based from Malaysia, working in the Global Total Reward Centre Of Expertise team.
Your role as Business Partner will be to support the regions/business units and the central team and you will be expected to contribute towards the development of global reward strategy, principles and processes.
You will lead on their local implementation in a designated geography (due to the fact that a lot of reward practice will be driven by local market practice, Total Reward business partners will have a geographic rather than pure business unit focus).
You will support regions/business units to attract, recruit, retain and motivate the skills and talent needed to achieve their strategic objectives. Utilising both data and the support of People Services and Solutions hubs the role-holder will support regions/countries and business units in implementing reward processes operationally such as: annual pay reviews; management of regional/business unit bonus schemes; maintaining benefit programmes and job evaluation.
Accountabilities:
Professional services expertise.
- To utilise their knowledge of British Council total reward strategy, principles and processes to be able to tactically implement reward initiatives (including pay and benefits) and processes locally in the regions, that are aligned to the overall reward strategy and principles, but adapted to local and business unit strategic contexts
- Role-holder will be expected to utilise their external total reward knowledge and experience to contribute to developing and adapting global, business unit and regional reward strategies, principles and processes
- Ensures that they remain up-to-date on external best practice reward policy and processes relevant to the regions they partner with – they will also need to be aware of the impact of local legislation in relation to reward practice.
- To carry out job evaluation exercises and be accountable for maintaining the British Council job architecture for their area of responsibility.
Consultancy, analysis and problem solving
- Contributing to the development of and utilising reward data dashboards and data analytics (including external market data) to provide insight to business unit/regional leadership teams to help them make evidence-based reward decisions
- To work with cross functional/business unit teams to develop solutions to total reward issues and contribute to any resulting reward design work – this will be both at global and regional level
- To provide analytical and consultancy advice to support regional and country pay and benefits review processes
Relationship and Stakeholder management
- To maintain tactical relationships with regional and business unit leadership teams so as to provide insightful total reward expert advice and also to incorporate their views into global and regional reward strategy and process development
- To contribute to the development of total reward communications materials and delivering these to staff when required.
Requirements of the role:
- Experience of working in a multinational and multi-cultural organisation and working across multiple lines of business/divisions in a matrix approach
- Experience of working in consultancy level Total Reward roles in a multi-national, corporate or consulting environment
- Experience of contributing to reward design and the implementation of new reward initiatives for commercial organisations
- Experience of utilising HR and reward data and analytics to inform reward strategy and design work and provide insights to business leaders
