Role Description

The Business Services Payroll Consultant position is an exciting opportunity for candidates who thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced business process outsourcing (BPO) environment.

The Payroll Consultant supports the delivery of accurate and timely payroll services to multiple clients across different industries and countries, with a strong focus on Japan-based subsidiaries of global companies.

This role requires strong attention to detail, a proactive mindset, and the ability to manage multiple client portfolios with professionalism and accountability.

Comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided for Japan and other country-specific payroll processes, local regulations, and internal systems. This position provides an opportunity to strengthen both operational and client advisory skills in a global consulting environment, paving the way for progression into a senior consultant role.

Responsibilities

Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Receiving salary information from clients, inputting it into the payroll system, and calculating payroll within established timelines.
  • Collecting new joiner/leaver information and completing onboarding/offboarding processes including insurance registration/deregistration, submission to authorities, etc.
  • Responding to client queries across all payroll and benefits processes within established target timelines.
  • Maintaining complete confidentiality of all payroll data, records, and reports.
  • Ensuring filing and recordkeeping of all employee files and data is compliant with applicable regulations.
  • Reviewing calculation results, email drafts, insurance registration documents, etc., prepared by other staff members.
  • Assisting in documenting payroll processes and standard operating procedures to ensure consistent and quality delivery.
  • Participating in knowledge sharing, process improvement initiatives, and system enhancement activities.

Required Qualifications

Skills and Experience

  • At least 1 year of working experience, preferably in payroll, accounting, finance, or similar professional services.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification/business experience.
  • Business-level English reading and writing skills.
  • Proficiency in reading and writing Chinese characters.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks under strict deadlines while maintaining a high standard of work.

  • Demonstrated ability and motivation to learn new systems and global payroll processes.

Bonus Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in payroll, accounting, finance, or similar professional services.
  • Japanese language proficiency.
