Responsible for planning and managing material requirements to ensure uninterrupted production, optimize inventory levels, and achieve on-time customer delivery. Coordinate with suppliers and internal cross-functional teams to manage purchase orders, resolve material shortages, monitor supplier performance, and support continuous improvement of the supply chain to meet business and customer objectives.
Position Responsibilities
- Plan material requirements based on MRP and customer demand to ensure timely material availability for production.
- Analyze and release Purchase Requisitions (PR) and Purchase Orders (PO) according to production schedules and inventory requirements.
- Monitor supplier order confirmations, delivery schedules, and shipment status to ensure on-time delivery.
- Maintain accurate inventory levels while driving inventory optimization and improving inventory turnover.
- Develop and execute material planning strategies to support customer On-Time Delivery (OTD) and On-Time Request (OTR) performance.
- Track material shortages, coordinate recovery plans, and work closely with suppliers to minimize production disruptions.
- Escalate critical material shortages and implement appropriate mitigation plans to reduce supply risks.
- Coordinate with Production, Warehouse, Quality, Engineering, Logistics, Finance, and Customs teams to resolve material-related issues.
- Support supplier quality improvement activities by collaborating with the Quality team on supplier quality issues and corrective actions.
- Manage Engineering Change Notice (ECN) implementation to ensure material readiness and minimize excess or obsolete inventory.
- Monitor supplier performance, delivery reliability, and purchasing KPIs while driving continuous supplier improvement.
- Prepare and analyze material planning reports, inventory reports, shortage reports, and purchasing performance metrics.
- Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies, procurement procedures, and supply chain best practices.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance planning accuracy, supply chain efficiency, and operational performance.
Position Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Engineering, Logistics, or a related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in Material Planning, Purchasing, Production Control, or Supply Chain within the EMS, PCBA, SMT, or electronics manufacturing industry.
- Strong knowledge of Material Requirements Planning (MRP), inventory management, procurement processes, and supply chain operations.
- Experience using ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or equivalent) and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to analyze material demand, inventory trends, and purchasing data to support effective planning decisions.
- Experience managing supplier relationships, purchase orders, delivery schedules, and shortage recovery activities.
- Familiarity with Engineering Change Notice (ECN) processes, inventory control, and production planning concepts.
- Proficiency in English is required; Mandarin proficiency is preferred to effectively communicate with Mandarin-speaking suppliers and customers.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and risk management awareness.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize multiple tasks, and meet tight production deadlines.
