Role Description The Calibration Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Penang, Malaysia. This role is responsible for performing precise calibration, verification, and adjustment of a wide range of mechanical, electronic, and dimensional instruments in accordance with company procedures and industry standards. Daily tasks include operating and maintaining test equipment, documenting calibration results, preparing reports and certificates, and ensuring traceability to relevant standards. The technician will troubleshoot measurement and equipment issues, support root-cause analysis, and collaborate with laboratory staff and supervisors to maintain compliance, safety, and quality within the lab environment. The role also involves organizing workloads, maintaining clean and orderly workstations, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong calibration skills, including performing, documenting, and verifying calibration of mechanical, electronic, and dimensional instruments.
  • Candidates should possess solid laboratory skills, including safe lab practices, handling of measurement devices, and adherence to quality and safety procedures.
  • Candidates should possess experience working with test equipment, including setup, operation, routine maintenance, and basic performance checks.
  • Candidates should possess troubleshooting abilities to diagnose instrument and measurement issues and support corrective actions.
  • Candidates should possess understanding of instrumentation principles, measurement units, and accuracy and uncertainty concepts.
  • Relevant technical diploma or degree in engineering, electronics, physics, or a related field is preferred.
  • Attention to detail, strong documentation skills, and ability to follow standardized procedures are required.
  • Ability to work on-site in a laboratory environment, collaborate with team members, and manage time effectively.
  • Prior experience in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory or metrology environment is an advantage.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and use of calibration management software are beneficial.
