Category Sourcing Engineer

We are seeking a proactive and detailoriented Category Sourcing Engineer to support new product introduction (NPI), supplier management, and cost analysis activities. This role works closely with R&D, design engineering, quality, finance, and suppliers to ensure reliable, competitive, and highquality components for our products.

Key Responsibilities

NPI & Engineering Support

1. Support design engineering requests for quotations, samples, drawings, and alternative component proposals during the NPI phase.
2. Recommend suitable alternatives to reduce supply risks and improve cost, quality, and availability.
3. Define new part information such as Commodity Codes, Harmonized Tariff (HT) Codes, and Item Master data.

Supplier Selection & Management

1. Manage supplier selection and awarding processes in alignment with SCD meeting outcomes.
2. Set up supplier information in systems, including purchasing info records and source lists.
3. Train new suppliers to understand company requirements across quality, delivery, and finance.
4. Develop and maintain supplier management programs to support supply chain development objectives.

Cost Analysis & Negotiation

1. Analyse competing supplier costbreakdown sheets, comparing materials, labour, and overhead costsparticularly for fabricated parts.
2. Conduct cost matrix comparisons and evaluate market pricing to ensure pricing is fair and reasonable.
3. Participate in tooling cost reviews, awarding decisions, and follow-up of tooling development and lifecycle management.

Quality & Documentation Support

1. Coordinate sample submissions and required documentation for First Article Inspection (FAI).
2. Assist with yearly tooling stocktake activities in partnership with Finance.

CrossFunctional Collaboration

1. Work with R&D, engineering, supply chain, quality, and finance teams to align on sourcing strategies and future component requirements.
2. Provide timely updates and maintain strong communication across departments.
   
   

What you will need:

• Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
• Ability to work in a fastpaced environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Effective communicator who can influence decisions across internal teams and suppliers.
• Experience in Power BI, Microsoft SharePoint, dataverse, DAX, Visual reporting etc.
• Fluency in English and Mandarin is critical
