Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION

Category Specialist role is responsible for developing and implementing sourcing strategies and plans for assigned spend categories, in line with business operating plans and objectives.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Develop critical agreements for logistics, manpower, catering, shipping, and husbandry agency services in each country where the company operates
  • Plan, forecast, strategize and develop sourcing strategies for high-spend vendors and categories
  • Develop bid packages, conduct bid evaluations, analyze results, and prepare recommendations along with internal approvals for contract award
  • Execute post-award contract management and administration
  • Lead negotiations for contract extensions, renewals, renegotiations, novation's and related contractual changes
  • Serve as a centre of knowledge for the category and share expertise with key stakeholders and SCM team members to enable more effective planning, sourcing, and procurement activities
  • Identify alternative suppliers or products to achieve maximum cost savings while ensuring no compromise to business continuity
  • Support the execution and management of the Approved Vendor List (AVL) to minimize risk

QUALIFICATIONS / CERTIFICATION

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Supply Chain or a related field
  • CIPS certification will be an added advantage
  • 5+ years of experience as a Category Specialist
